Its already sunny & hot here so we are already (ok year round) using sunscreen so I was super happy to have the opportunity to test out Eucerin's Everyday Protection line-lotion + SPF=winner. First DH: he has dark skin so he doesnt think he needs sunscreen- WRONG! The sun hits us all. AND he drives his motorcycle to and from work (round trip 80 miles per day) -so yes he gets a TON of sun exposure. He is a HUGE fan of Eucerin & applies lotion daily anyways so I knew that Eucerin's Everyday Protection line was PERFECT for him! I am happy to report that he has already taken over BOTH bottles! Now onto me: I have sensitive skin that has a tendency to break out so I refuse to put most sunscreens on my face. Lucky for me Eucerin Everyday Protection face lotion is Fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and clinically proven safe for sensitive skin and it does double duty as my daily moisturizer and sunscreen in one! LOVE it :) And yes, I ride on the back of the bike- so I also need all over sun protection.

For more information, please visit Eucerin’s Facebook page where you can obtain free samples and keep up with the Skin First Express as it travels across America! And check out our entire product review on Two Belles Fitness.

Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 DVD Review

Review: Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30
Jillian Michaels, 2011 ***** (5 of 5 stars)

This dvd offers four 31-35 min workouts on one dvd. The workouts are formatted to be used for 30 days- each week utilizing a different workout. Jillian leads in a cute brick "gym" with 2 backgrounders who show beginner & advanced modifications- Jillian performs intermediate and walks around providing form tips & motivation. You will need dumbbells for these workouts.

The workouts are all formatted circuit style and each circuit includes: 3 min strength, 2 min cardio, and 1 min cardio. The 3-2-1 format gives you everything (core, cardio, & strength) in 30ish minutes. Jillian doesnt repeat any exercises from week to week- so you really wont get bored & you'll continue to confuse your muscles & challenge your heart. Love that the cardio also often works the lower body and the strength work hits the core! Each section contains a w/u & a c/d. And she goes at a good pace to use poundage heavier than they use in the w/o.

Week One: (35 min) Exercises include pushups, squat w/ OH press, static lunge & tricep kickback, fast feet, skater, hi plank, cross country, deadlift & upright row, side lunge w/ a front raise, butt kicks, reverse crunch, KB swing, etc.

Week Two: (35 min) Exercises include pendulum lunges & serving biceps, static lunge & UR row, chest press & single leg bridge, Mt climbers, plank jacks, skipping rope, plank bunny hops, V extensions, pliet & French press, balance stick & row, plank rows, punches, hi knee runs, etc.

Week Three: (31 min)Exercises include bear crawl, duck walk, hopping twists, plank pike hops, balance stick & back fly, roll back -squat- hop up, plyo squat to floor touch & hop up, static fast run (UB moving), weighted toe taps, balancing tri extensions, pike pushups, plyo lunges, etc.

Week Four: (33 min) Exercises include plank to crescent pose, static squat & OH press, static squat & row, pliet hops, jack kicks, plank walks, around the world lunges/curtsies & bi curls, burpees, pliet hop heel click or cross, double jump rope, chatarunga pushups, roll up to double crunch, etc.

I am a fan of Jillian's work- so its no surprise that I loved this workout! Really a ton of workout minutes (134 minutes to be exact) for a GREAT price (only $9.99 at Collage Video). I love that any exerciser can pick up this dvd and a set of dumbbells and be set for months worth of workouts! Im certain if you did these workouts in conjunction with the meal plan provided on the dvd- you would have fantastic results!  Easy to combine workouts- just skip one w/u & 1 c/d for 60 minute sweat fest! I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: Kick Box Metabolic Interval with Amy Bento

URX-MT: Kick Box Metabolic Interval
Amy Bento, 2011

Amy leads this workout in a brick gym with 4 b/g exercisers. You will need a rebounder and a set of 1-3 pound sand weights (which Amy uses to up the intensity for the vast majority of the w/o). The majority of this workout is done on the rebounder, but some of the exercises require you to move across the UR or have one foot on, one off, etc. This is a 53 min cardio kickboxing workout that ends with a fun corework segment.

This is the 3rd URX-MT w/o I've done and this is the most advanced so far- loved it! The format is a cardio kickboxing segment followed by an intensity burst and you finish with an awesome core section. During the punch combos the b/g'ers arent bouncing too intensely- but you can easily up your bounce factor for a seriously heart pumping workout- I did and I was a sweaty mess by the end. It would be very easy to stay on the UR for the entire workout if you are uncomfortable with those moves or dont have the space (though not a lot of space was required at all).

Cardio Exercises Include: Lots of great punch & kick combos, burpee off the UR- gorilla climb up into a kick combo, hop 1 foot off the UR w/ a hammer puch, single leg hop, jump kicks with punches, mogul jabs, cross country w/ big weighted arm movements, knife punches and tuck jumps, 1 foot off the UR with an elbow strike, and over the top (horizontal) over the UR. After a quick cooldown- you move on the Core Work: kneeling on the UR punching down, rock & roll around the world, standing on the UR- hand walking out to plank & back, and low V hovers.

I like Amy in this one and found her very motivating as a "bootcamp drill sergeant." Done as is (without adding in more intense bouncing during the punch combos) I rate this a high intermediate. Adding in those bounces and its low advanced- I was VERY well worked by the end. I really think the level changes by getting on and off the UR add to the intensity, like a step adds to the intensity of floor cardio. Nothing dangerous or scary about any of the exercises in this. LOVE that Amy uses the sand weights for almost the entire workout- really upped the intensity!

URX-MT Review: Core Metabolic Cardio with Patrick Goudeau Review

URX-MT: Core Metabolic Cardio
Patrick Goudeau, 2011

This is a 52 minute cardio & strength interval rebounding workout led by Patrick. in a nice gym set. Patrick works out with 3 backgrounders. You will need a rebounder and 1-3 lb sand weights for this workout. After a 5 minute warmup you move into the 40 minutes of cardio & (light) strength intervals and finish with a stretch. The workout is structured in blocks of 5 min of cardio followed by 5 (or less) minutes of strength work.

This is the 2nd dvd I have done in the URX-MT set and I have really enjoyed both! They are much higher intensity than the orignials, better leads, and more variety of exercises. The exercises are all straight forward and athletic- easy to follow along to but not boring. Patrick does include some exercises that you get on and off the rebounder- and I felt that the level changes really added to the workout intensity and added a very functional feel. I am super uncoordinated and had no issues getting on and off the rebounder.

Exercises Include: fast in and outs, fast bounce, v steps, knee ups, going from the floor across the UR, lunging onto the UR with a balance knee & hop, running up to the UR- stepping down to the floor, high knees run, clock taps w/ 1 leg on the UR & 1 off, static knee pulls (1 leg off 1 leg on), side lunge off the UR, travel squats over the UR, burpees, and jacks & tuck jumps. With hands on the UR & feet on the floor:, Mt. Climbers, walking planks, plank-arm hop to hi plank, & pikes. Patrick includes "new" UR arm movements that add to the fun factor.

I would rate this a high intermediate cardio workout that includes some light toning. I will use it as a cardio w/o as I do w/ some of the pink Firms. As with all rebounding workouts- you def get out what you put in. I worked up a great sweat and found this workout to be a great intensity! Patrick cracks me up- one of hte b/gers is Tracey from the original UR w/o's (super high energy, all over the place) and he actually made fun of her- which provided me with additional ab work laughing- very funny stuff, love laughing along with the crew during a good w/o! I am super happy with this workout and have high hopes for the rest of the set- so far both Ive reviewed have 5 star ratings from me! I received this dvd to review.

Jessica Smith's 10 Pounds Down Total Body Tune Up Review

Jessica Smith, 2011

Jessica leads this 60 min strength + cardio in the Miami studio that she actually leads live classes in! The studio is a cute open space w/ blue background with flowing water in the backdrop and hardwood floors. You will need dumbbells for this  workout- Jessica uses 5's but you can vary yours. Jessica works out alone and offers various intensity modifications throughout.

This workout is mostly strength but includes nice cardio bursts between strength sets. Jessica uses lighter weights - I used 10's & 15's and it really amped up the cardio effect of this workout! I was sweating & my heart was pumping. The pace is quick but not so quick that I had trouble with my poundage. There is no wasted time and she really keeps the workout moving along. And she includes tons of great combo moves.

Exercises include: pulsing curtsy w/ a torso twist & overhead press, lunge w/ a back fly & bi curl, pushup knee pulls, criss cross jacks, cross punch, jumps, 1 legged squats w/ a side tap & torso twist & bi curl, lat row w/ an outer thigh raise, runners lunge to the floor & up, squat jacks, 180 burpees, chest press & reverse crunch, pec fly & knee drop, plank moguls, Mt. climbers, superman variations, diagonal rear lunge & tri kickback, close stance squat w/ an overhead Y push, lunge & french press, jump rope, 1 arm swing, dip & knee up, tri pushups w/ a leg raise, side plank w/ a front kick, plank knee pulls, scissor ab pulses, triangle leg drops, and bicycles.

With lighter poundage I would rate this a solid intermediate workout that really hits all the muscle groups. By using heavier or lighter poundage this workout can really be adjusted to meet the needs of most exercisers. As always Jessica's cuing and energy are excellent, making this a great addition to any workout collection. I am impressed with: the pace, the UNIQUE moves, and the tough ab section! Great workout!!! I look forward to more 10 Pounds Workouts. I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: Extreme Metabolic Cardio Blast with JB Berns Review

Introducing the first of my Urban Rebounding Extreme Metabolic Training (URX-MT) reviews!!! I am SO excited about this set. It was quite possibly my most wanted set all year!!! I dove right in and did JB's "bonus" cardio dvd. LOVED IT! Click on my URX-MT label above to see all the URX-MT reviews as they get posted!!!  I have been waiting for new UR workouts forEVER and these being "extreme" was the icing on the (fat free) cake!!!  I have a bad knee & sometimes using the UR is the only way I can get an intense cardio workout. Virtually no impact and good for the lymph nodes, your vision, circulation, and of course your heart! Heres a little intro about the URX-MT set.

Urban Rebounding Extreme Metabolic Training is a brand new set of Urban Rebounding dvds released by JB Berns!!!The set includes 13 separate dvds led by seven hot instructors (JB Berns, Patrick Goudeau, Gay Gasper, Amy Bento Ross, Keli Roberts, Greg Sims, & Greg Cook). The dvds utilize the Urban Rebounder (mini trampoline), light 1-3 pound sandweights, and tubing. The set covers it ALL: cardio, strength, core, and power moves- all combined to provide excellent results!

URX MT Extreme Metabolic Cardio Blast
JB Berns, 2011

This is a 52 minute cardio rebounding workout led by JB Berns (the creator of Urban Rebounding). JB leads in a nice gym set with 5 backgrounders. You will need a rebounder and 1-3 lb sand weights for this workout. After a 5 minute warmup you move into the body of the workout (35 minute), do 8-10 sets of sprints, and then finish with 4-5 minutes of ab workout and a stretch.

This is the 1st dvd I have done in the URX MT set. This workout is what I always wished the original UR w/o's would have been: longer and more intense! The exercises are all straight forward and athletic- easy to follow along to but not boring.  All the work, including the core section is done on the rebounder (there is no getting on and off, etc). JB does an excellent job of including tempo changes & varied arm movements to keep things interesting.

Exercises Include: Around the world jumps, straddle, jacks, basic bounce, heel digs, ham curls, twists, lateral knee raises, 180 jumps, jogs, kicks, jabs, cross country, criss cross jacks, knee raises, and moguls. He adds in variety by having you do many of the exercises "around the world" style and by adding in the use of the sand weights for the 2nd half of the workout. He finishes off the cardio with 8-10 sets of sprints and ab work on the UR: sit up & knee crunch, C curve, crunch variations, and V sits.

I would rate this a high intermediate workout- as with all rebounding workouts- you def get out what you put in. I worked up a great sweat and found this workout to be a great intensity! JB's cuing is very good and he offers good pointers. I am super happy with this workout and have high hopes for the rest of the set. I LOVE my rebounder-and am beyond excited about this set. I received this dvd to review.

Collage Video GIVEAWAY: Paul Katami's Hollywood 4X4 Bootcamp Review & Giveaway

    A.S.A.P. Hollywood 4X4 Bootcamp
    Paul Katami, 2010 ***** (5 of 5 stars)

Paul leads this 72 minute bootcamp workout in a cute brick room with 2 backgrounders. You will need dumbbells for this workout. There is no modifier but Paul offers plenty of modification options for most exercises.

Absolutely LOVE the structure of this workout!!! You do 5 blocks; each block consists of 2 sets of: 1 min cardio, 1 min lower body strength work, 1 min upper body strength work, 1 min core work, and 30 seconds of rest. All the cardio is straight forward and athletic, lots of bootcamp-esque moves included. Very well rounded and done at a great cardiovascular pace! A lot of the cardio work will also work the lower body (bonus) and he hits the core in a lot of the exercises! The structure really makes this challenging workout doable!

Cardio Exercises Include: jump rope variations, burpee- Mt. climbers, runners lunge to hop up, squat jack & air jack, and hopping lunge & squats. Strength Exercises Include: iron cross, squat & lunge, quick pushups to Mt. climbers, squat knee up to curtsy knee up, lying tri press, and progressive lunges w/ a bi curl. Core Work Includes: windmill squats, plank, sit up & knee twist, plank (or chataragna) w/ a lateral knee pull, and X sit ups. A warmup and cooldown are also included.

I would rate this workout a lower advanced workout. You can easily go at your own pace for each 60 second exercise-making it very adaptable to many fitness levels. Paul & crew appear to be using 8's but I used heavier and didnt have any issues with keeping up or my form. Great cardio, strength, and core work- absolutely love this one! The time really flys by! This is my first time w/o'ing out w/ Paul and I really like him & his training style. His cuing is good and he provides plenty of form pointers throughout. Cant wait to try more from him.

Use code "NJ25" at checkout to receive your discount! A HUGE thank you Natural Journeys!!!

Island Girl Dance Fitness Workout for Beginners: Hula Abs & Buns
    Kili Kilihune, 2004

This is a 40 minute hula workout led by Kili with 2 background exercisers. It is set outdoors in beautiful Hawaii w/ greenery and the ocean in the background. I love outdoor sets and this one is absolutely gorgeous. You wont need any equipment for this workout. The dvd is chaptered so you can start at any chapter and includes an intro & a final dance.

I felt like this w/o was mostly hula work with additions (knee ups, short lunges, squats) to up the core & lower body work. She also adds in fun "hula" style arm movements to much of the work. The workout is built add on style so Kili teaches you a hula move, then another & then adds them together. After a quick warmup you learn various hula moves & then at the end you combine everything into a nice hula routine (which is cued).

Exercises include: hip sways, step touch w/ hip sways, pulsing lunge steps, oblique tilts, walking squats, knee lifts, heel & hip shifts, move forward & back w/ hip rotations, close stance squat, bunny lunges w/ hip sways & tiki arms, a nice static lunge w/ a standing crunch & hip sway move, hip circles, and side toe taps.
I really felt it in my love handle area- lots of hip sways!!

I rate this a beginner standing core & bun workout. My core was really being worked but none of the moves were overly challenging- great for all fitness levels!!! The moves were easy to catch onto and the routine is quite fun! I really love the standing ab work so this will get plenty of use! Kili keeps you moving so your heart is working harder than it would during floor ab work.
This will make a great add on workout. My obliques were really feeling this the next day! I received this workout to review.

Jane Fonda Workouts: Jeanette Jenkins Ultra Bootcamp Review

    Jane Fonda's Workout: Ultra Bootcamp
    Jeanette Jenkins, 2010

Jeanette leads this 60 minute workout alone in a nice open set with hardwood floors and a blue fogged background w/ panels (nice set!). You will need dumbbells for the strength segment. Jeanette says 3-5 #'s but I used a variety of heavier dumbbells.

The cardio work is done first, followed by the strength so you can easily break the workout into two separate workouts. The cardio is straightforward athletic bootcamp style cardio including calisthenics, kickboxing, and sports drills. The strength work includes plenty of combo moves to keep your heartrate up while building muscle and concludes with a core section and a stretch.

Cardio: (26 min) Exercises include jogging + speedbag, lots of great punch & kick combos, some fun basketball drills, power knee pulls, kick to floor touch, plank to squat, shuffle floor touch, fast feet w/ a torso twist, burpee-pushup-side plank combo, standing oblique crunch, skaters, and other fun athletic style cardio.

Strength: (21 min) Exercises include back fly w/ rear toe tap, row to fly, stationary lunge & bi curl, pulsing lunges w/ shoulder raise, pliet & upright row, tri kickback w/ glute raise, dip & shoulder raise to 1 leg deadlift, rotator cuff & inner thigh raise, demi pliet w/ French press, pushups, tricep pushups, donkey kick series, boat pose, bicycle, and roll ups. Lots of good multi muscle moves!

I rate this a high intermediate workout that can be adapted to fit the needs of most exercisers. The choreo is easy to catch onto but not boring- I love bootcamp and I love Jeanette so I knew this would be a winner for me. I dont know how its possible but Jeanette looks even more fit in this one! She is so much fun to work out with- you can really tell she is having a good time (not giggly at all but has a great energy!) Keep the good ones coming! I received this dvd to review.

    Review: Longevity: Defined Lines
    Tracey Long, 2011 ***** (4.5 stars)

Tracie leads this 45 minute strength + cardio workout alone alone in a cute brick gym on a pedestal.  She does offer modifications for many of the exercises. You will need a med ball, dumbbells, and optional gliders (paper plates or towels work fine) for this workout.

I really like the structure of this workout. She combines unique functional work with tried & true strength exercises to really hit the muscles in a new way. Tracie includes some fun lower impact cardio, a 4-limb segment, great core work, and a  nice floor work section. LOTS of standing core work and nice balance challenges.

Exercises include: med ball weave between the legs, standing side knee crunches, long arm ball twists, med ball kettlebell swing, diagonal ball chops, low squat side to side, long jump forward & hop back, standing dumbbell swim & squat, side to side walking pushups, 1 legged balance "run," balance tri kickback, lat row & raise, push up - frog (modified burpee), side kicks, lunge & weighted punch, disc pliets, bear drops, pike plank, glider pushups, donkey kicks, med ball v twists, med ball knee crunches, reverse crunch w/ the ball between your knees, scissors, and walking bridge.

I would rate this a solid intermediate workout. As always Tracies cuing is spot on and her form is impeccable. Love how she seamlessly combines so many different exercises and includes great unique combos to keep you interested. I def felt my muscles being worked in a way different from my "norm" and loved that my core was being worked so much in this workout!

Jessica Smith's 10 Pounds Down Weight Loss Cardio Mix Review

Today's Review: 10 Pounds Down Weight Loss Cardio Mix
    Jessica Smith, 2011 ***** (5 of 5 stars)

Jessica works out on location in the Miami studio she actually leads classes in! The studio is a cute open space w/ blue background with flowing water in the backdrop and hardwood floors. The music is excellent- very upbeat & fresh- makes you want to move. You wont need any equipment for this workout. Jessica works out alone and offers various intensity modifications throughout.

10 Pounds Down Weight Loss Cardio Mix is chaptered into Weight Loss Cardio Mix, Total Body Toners, and Corset Abs - you can play all or select a segment from the main menu. The cardio portion is a high energy routine that combines boxing, old school hi/lo (with fresh twists to keep it interesting), and lots of good standing core work. The toning segment is body resistance strength work, and the ab routine offers SUPER unique standing & floor (tough) ab work.

Weight Loss Cardio Mix: (40 min) exercises include mambo-hop-hop w/ fun arms, jabs, jack variations, cross punch w/ level changes, jump rope, V step & V hop, knee pulls w/ big arms, diagonal push with a twist (hits the core), skip forward jack back, double skip, skater, lunge w/ a twisting jab, pulsing lunges w/ a hop and she cools us down with more standing core work (LOVE standing core work!)

Total Body Toners: (10 min) Exercises include pliet pulses, pliet heel drags, side plank raise (like!), supermans, pilates style pushups, plank w/ a bent leg raise, and pushup variations. Fun, quick, & effective- great for travel!

Corset Abs: (8 min) Exercises include: frog leg extensions, leg scissor drops, wide leg circles, oblique leg drops, reverse crunch variations, cross knee pull, supermans & superman heel taps, wide stance knee pulls, & full body V extensions. SUPER unique & effective core work!

I rate this workout a solid intermediate that can easily be modified to suit the needs of most all exercisers. Jessica's cuing (as always) is spot on and she offers plenty of modification options throughout. LOVE that she adds in standing core work into the cardio- but still keeps you moving so your heart rate doesnt drop. She does an excellent job of balancing fun choreo that is not too complicated but not at all boring. The time went by super quickly and the core work had my abs screaming! Fun unique twists on the exercises and put together in a fresh way! I received this dvd to review.

    Angie Miller Kettlebell Bootcamp Review

    Today's Review: Kettlebell Bootcamp
    Angie Miller, 2009

Angie leads this 54 minute workout in a cute pink set with wooden floors. She works out with a background exerciser who offers less intense modifications. You will only need a kettlebell for this workout; Angie uses a 15 lb bell (I used a 15-25 lb dumbbell). The dvd is chaptered very well so you can choose which segments you want to do or play all.

This is a full body kettlebell workout that will work your muscles and also get your heart rate up. The workout includes standing kettlebell work and concludes on the floor with pushups, core work, and a stretch. The pace is slow enough to go deep in your lower body exercises but not so slow to be considered isometric and yet still quick enough to get the heart pumping!

Exercises include: double arm swing, deep curtsy dip w/ a torso twist, lunge & row, KB torso twist, KB swing w/ a ham curl, squat variations, KB swing w/ a side leg lift, windmill, OH press, French press & knee lifts, dip & KB pass through, halo w/ a torso twist, single arm swing, deadlift, picking the KB off the floor w/ a balance rear leg lift, pushups, full body crunch, V twists, sit up w/ a KB raise, and concludes with a stretch.

I would rate this an intermediate workout that can be adjusted to fit the needs of most exercisers. Angie does a great job of adding twists to traditional kettlebell moves to really get the most out of your workout hour! She provides plenty of combo moves to get the heart rate up and adds in tempo variations & balance challenges to keep things interesting. I received this dvd to review.
