REVIEW: Cindy Whitmarsh UFit Ultra Tight

Cindy Whitmarsh, 2013

This dvd contains two 20 minute workouts, set to great music.  Cindy leads in a gym set with 4 backgrounders one showing beginner modifications. You will need dumbbells for this dvd. Each workouts warmup is built into the workout.

Hard Body: Exercises are performed for 1 minute each and include: plank jacks, curtsy & bi curl, squat to clean U press, around the world lunges, crab kicks, round house & squat, KB swing & front & diagonal raise, twisting mt. climbers, row & kick back combo, burpee to fast knee pushups, plank side knee pull, weighted twists, plyo lunges, and a stretch.

6 Pack Abs: Exercises are performed for 1 minute each and include: weighted torso twist & side bends, elbow to knee pull, sit up & punch, fast & slow plank knee crosses, supine leg drops, mt. climbers, pike, weighted frog crunches, bear crawl, weighted full body crunches, plank to reverse plank, flutter kicks, side plank toe taps and a stretch.

These are both intermediate routines. Hard Body is a fun fast paced routine that utilizes light to moderate weights. 6 Pack Abs is a fun active ab routine with a few cardio moves built in to get the blood flowing. Cindy is her usual perky self and is very motivating. I received this dvd to review.

NEW From Cindy Whitmarsh: UFIT Ultra Burn REVIEW

UFIT Ultra Burn
Cindy Whitmarsh, 2013

This dvd contains two 20 minute workouts, set to great music.  Cindy leads in a gym set with 4 backgrounders one showing beginner modifications. You will need dumbbells for this dvd. Each workouts warmup is built into the workout.

Cardio: The workout is composed of timed intervals. Exercises include  march & hop, lunge & knee pulls, step knee ups, pliet step ins, shuffle & floor touch, soccer drill, dip & knee, ski & power lunge, lateral up & overs, jog & knee pull and concludes with a stretch.

Sculpt & Stretch: The workout is composed of timed intervals and the yoga inspired stretches are built into the strength moves.  Exercises include walk out plank & stretch, plank rows & front raises, cat cow to down dog, pushup side plank, bird dog, dumbbell cross punches, warrior, military press & knee raise, triangle, tree & bi curl, balance stick & tri kickbacks, windmill, roll back to V sit, and concludes with a stretch.

This is an intermediate routine. Cindy starts with a lower impact exercise & moves in to a higher intensity. You can easily keep it low or do the higher impact the whole time to adjust to your level. Cindy is her normal perky self & provides great form pointers. I am a huge fan of athletic timed intervals so I enjoyed the structure of this workout. I received this dvd to review.

NEW From Cindy Whitmarsh: UFIT Ultra Lean Review

UFIT Ultra Lean
Cindy Whitmarsh, 2013

This dvd contains two 20 minute workouts. Cindy leads in a gym set with 4 backgrounders one showing beginner modifications. You will need dumbbells for this dvd. Each workouts warmup is built into the workout. I enjoyed the music.

Upper Body Bliss: This workout is comprised of three min circuits with one minute of cardio & 2 min of strength. Exercises include fast feet & jab, pushups, kneeling chest press, jump roper, front & side raise with a knee raise, fast feet down to burpees, jacks & hooks, burpee to squat clean & press, cross lunge & chop, fast & slow moguls, dip & cross punch, kneeling tri extensions, ti dips, plank moguls & knee tucks, superman, plank rows, and concludes with a cooldown & stretch.

Lower Body Blast: This workout is comprised of three min circuits with one minute of cardio & 2 min of strength. Exercises include fast feet & up & over, pliet & pivot side lunges, skater, deadlift variations, fast & slow moguls, low runners lunge, forward & back squat jumps, jog & hi knee run, 1 leg bridge pulses, butt burner knee pull ins and concludes with a quick stretch.

This is an intermediate routine, the UB being a bit more challenging than the LB routine in  my opinion. Cindy has a great perky attitude & provides great form pointers. The exercises are athletic & easy to follow. If you are a fan of Cindy, athletic moves, & timed intervals this is a great workout for you. Easy to do individually or to combine for a longer workout. I received this dvd to review.

Interview With Fitness Pro Cindy Whitmarsh (4-11-11)

The Belles recently had the pleasure of interviewing Cindy Whitmarsh of Cindy Whitmarsh Fitness!!! Cindy has over 17 years experience in the health and fitness industry, and has become an expert in getting proven results for clients ranging from professional athletes to celebrities to everyday moms. Along with her nutrition consulting business, Ultrafit Nutrition Systems, she is a personal trainer and instructor of Spinning, Muscle, and boxing classes. She has produced and stared in her own exercise Video “The Ultrafit Fat Burning Video” (which I LOVE), along with countless DVD’s (she also leads the Barry’s Bootcamp Fat Blaster series that-you guessed it I LOVE) . She has authored two fitness books (read and loved both!), a cookbook (on my wishlist), and is a top trainer on Exercise TV (have and love her ExTV w/o’s!) in addition she is a Good Morning San Diego fitness consultant.

Belles: You are a certified nutritionist, what is your best nutritional tip?Cindy: When you think you are hungry, down 2 glasses of cold water first! Wait 10 minutes and if you are still hungry then go ahead with a healthy snack. Sometimes hunger pains are only due to dehydration and a couple glasses of water will then do the trick! All my clients drink at least 80 ounces of water a day! Its the easiest and cheapest diet drink!
Belles: You have maintained a substantial weight loss. What do you to keep yourself motivated & not slip back to old habits?
Cindy: My motivation comes from an inner voice that reminds me how I used to feel when I was overweight! I was depressed, had low self esteem, constantly tired and lonely! I will never go back to those days! Also, once you have lived a clean eating life and healthy fitness life you crave good foods and the high you get from a good workout! That beats a large pizza and diet coke any day of the week!
Belles: You are a busy wife, mother, and career woman- how do you fit in fitness and what would you tell those who say “I just dont have the time to exercise”? (Awesome answer!)
Cindy: OMG this kills me! I don’t care how busy you are you can always fit in time to workout! Even if I have 10/15 minutes I will go out in the garage and jump rope and do pushups and sit ups! Just that amount of time burns calories but not only that makes me feel better about myself and when you feel good about yourself you want to eat better and do better the next day! I will get up at 5am if I have to! My family knows I need to workout and its just part of our lives! If I don’t get it in I don’t beat myself up but will do a double duty the next day! It’s just a part of my life!
Belles: What is your weekly workout routine?
Cindy: This is different every week and also depends if I am training for a video or photo shoot or just regular, but if it is a normal week here is my schedule:
Monday: Teach spin class/Ab workout
Tuesday: Teach cardio muscle Interval full body class/30 min Elliptical machine warm up before class
Wednesday: Hot Yoga/Walk Run outside!
Thursday: Biceps/Triceps/Shoulders/abs plus either stair workout or treadmill workout!
Friday: Spin class and Legs/Abs
Saturday: Hour and a half moderate cardio workout (walk, jog, rowing machine, elliptical, recumbent bike)
Sunday: Always off!
Belles: Do you workout with dvds? (such a funny response-love it!)
Cindy: No but I sometimes watch them to get inspiration or new ideas! I guess that’s not entirely true, one time I did my Ultrafit workout dvd with my sister at Christmas time and ended up yelling at myself the entire time! No Cindy this is not easy! No Cindy I don’t want to do 8 more! And stop smiling so much Cindy! This is hard! So that was it and now I just kick my own butt at the gym or at my home gym!
Belles: What’s a favorite healthy snack or meal?
Cindy: My favorite snack is a Blueberry CHOBANI Greek Yogurt with 10 almonds! Perfect blend of protein, carbs and good fats! My favorite healthy meal is grilled fish tacos and black beans! Yummy!
Belles: How would you describe your training method?
Cindy: I would say I cross train and Interval train! I cross train because I am always doing something different in my workouts and Interval training is the fastest way to get results!
Belles: Can we expect any new Cindy dvds in the future? (OMG congrats Cindy & family!!!!!)
Cindy: Yes! I am currently pregnant so I plan on creating a dvd and fitness book! After I deliver, I will make a comeback dvd! Watch out! Ill be ready to get after it and kick some butt!
Belles: How do you fit in all the different fitness genres and stay well balanced in your workouts?
Cindy: The only genre I do not do is Pilates. I do not have the patience for it. I know it’s a great workout but I just don’t feel it. I fit every other kind of workout in! Sculpting, cardio, yoga, bootcamp, I love them all!
Thank you SO much Cindy for taking the time to share you insights with the Two Belles and our readers.
Be sure to head on over to Cindy’s facebook page & congratulate and thank her!!!! Find Cindy Whitmarsh Fitness on facebook, Follow Cindy Whitmarsh on twitter, and visit Cindy Whitmarsh Fitness on the web.

Review: Natural Journeys Total Body Sculpt
Cindy Whitmarsh, 2007

Cindy leads this workout out alone in a nice fitness studio set. You will only need dumbells for this workout. The workout is divided up into five 10 minute segments You can play all or each segment individually.

Upper Body: I was able to use pretty heavy weights in this section. She does a lot of multi-muscle moves & some unique moves. Cindy hits every UB muscle group  including a nice back & chest section. Some exercises are: pushups, tri extensions, & a bi curl- military press- tri extension combo.

Lower Body: I was able to use my heaviest weights for the duration. Some exercises include: 1 legged deadlift variations, side squats, side lunges, and a floor section:  outer thigh lifts and donkey kicks. Lots of unique exercises.

Abs: Cindy starts with standing core work (love) and some of the floor core work includes planks, side planks,  plank taps, oblique pinch and other unique & effective core work that I felt this next day!

Cardio: Cindy keeps it fairly low impact but I added more hops and plyos and my heart was really pumping! Exercises include: jumping jacks, side touches, skiers, side hops, and jump rope. Love the straight forward athletic cardio in this section.

Stretch: This is a 10 minute total body stretch segment that is a great way to finish off your workout or to use any time to work out those tired muscles.

I rate this an intermediate workout that can easily be adapted to any fitness level by adjusting your poundage. If you are a Cindy fan and/or like the 10 minute format you will love this workout. This dvd has a great place in my collection as I love both Cindy & 10 minute add-ons. Its great to use in its entirety for a 50 min total body workout or add on segments to other w/o's. Cindy is a great motivating instructor and her cuing is great! I received this dvd to review.

Heavy up on weights for a strength day, or use lighter weights for a cardio day- this dvd is very versatile and unique. This workout accomplishes a lot in a short amount of time, making it a great addition to anyone's dvd library. I received this dvd to review.

Review: Exercise TV: Powerade Zero - Less is More Workout

Today's Review: Exercise TV: Powerade Zero - Less is More Workout
Cindy Whitmarsh, Lizbeth Garcia, Patrick Murphy, 2009

This dvd has a 30 min cardio w/o (Cindy Whitmarsh), 20 min pilates & 20 min yoga (Lizbeth Garcia), and 50 minutes of strength work divided into 10 minute sections by body part led by Patrick Murphy. The set is has a nice gym room feel to it. You wont need any props for any segments except the strength and for that you will need: dumbbells, stability ball, medicine ball, and a stretchy band.

Cardio: Cindy works out alone and starts with a nice kickboxing type warmup. The routine is built add on style and she does three 10ish minute routines- all athletic, fun & effective. The exercises include: burpee - pushup combo, quick feet, jumps, plyo squats w/ jabs, a spider move done on the floor, various punches & kicks, jogging, more burpees :) Mt. Climbers, skaters, ski jumps,  & ends w/ a quick stretch. As you can see some of the moves are challenging but all were fun & fresh- I like this section A LOT! Cindy is a great lead, solid to high intermediate.

Pilates: Lizbeth works out alone and leads us through a core & LB focused pilates routine. She usually shows a modified version & then moves into the more challenging move. Exercises include single & double leg stretch, lower back work, a donkey kick series, a pilates leg series, can can and other core work, &  plank series. I enjoyed this section & def felt it in my LB & core. Intermediate.

Yoga: Lizbeth works out alone-Most of the moves are in "series" & you do different variations of the moves in each series: sun salutation , warrior, balancing posture. You then do goddess star, criss cross, bridges, sideplanks, hi planks, etc. Low intermediate.

Strength: This section is divided up into Explosive Upper Body, Gold Medal Glutes & Legs, Camera Ready Core, A List Arms, and a 5 min w/u & c/d. Patrick leads all segments as a "personal trainer" with a lady performing the moves. I felt I got  a lot of bang for my buck here. He adds in a lot of balance work and cardio bursts to keep the intensity up. The lower body & core sections include some floor work and a lot of the lower body work is unweighted but you could easily grab weights. Solid to high intermediate. Lots of good unique stuff here.

This dvd has a ton of variety, great to do individual segments or combine for a 10-130 min workout. I know I will get a lot of use out it. Of course, there is a token Powerade Zero comment in each segment- but its bearable. I liked all the instructors- Cindy is a fav of mine, Patrick was great, Lizbeth was good but the yoga wasnt too exciting IMO. I did however really enjoy her pilates w/o. The cardio & strength segments were awesome! Im a huge fan of Exercise TV w/o's and this one did not disappoint! I received this dvd to review.

REVIEW: 10 Days to a Better Body Featuring Cindy Whitmarsh

Results Fitness 10 Days to a Better Body
Cindy Whitmarsh, 2008

This dvd has a 35 minute lower body workout and a 35 minute upper body workout. Each workout alternates one minute of cardio and one minute of LB or UB strength work. Cindy leads the workout alone in a nice set w/ hard wood floors with some fitness props in the background. You will need a variety of dumbbells for this workout. Both workouts include a few ab moves at the end. You can play all or play individually.

She starts each cardio move with a lowimpact/ beginner modification of and then moves into the advanced move. So once familiar w/ the moves you could do the advanced from the get-go. She goes right from one minute into the next exercise so there is no resting or wasted time. She really makes the most of the 30ish minutes.
Some of the lower body moves were unique and effective, always a nice bonus. Some examples are: cutsey dips, lunge variations, squat variations, deadlift variations, hopping on leg, jumping back and forth over your dubbells, plank-knee pulls (kind of like Mt climbers), burpees (blowouts), punches while holding the dumbbells to work your abs, clamshell crunches while holding a dumbbell, etc.

Some of the upper body moves include many compound moves. Bicep-overhead press, plank while doing rows, bicep-rotator cuff, jacks, cross country ski jumps, mt. climbers, and the like.

I would rate this a solid intermediate workout. Cindy is one of my favorite instructors! She is knowledgable about health, fitness, and nutrition IMO. She is a good cuer and is helpful with form pointers throughout the workout. All the moves are athletic and easy to catch onto. I really really like this workout! I love combining it w/ other cardio splits though you could easily do both the UB & LB w/o's togehter for a 60 min full body AWT w/o.

Cindy Whitmarsh's Ultra Fat Burning Workout & Natural Journeys Discount Code!

Today's Review: Natural Journeys- The Ultra Fat Burning Workout
Cindy Whitmarsh, 2007

Cindy leads this 45ish minute workout with 4 other exercisers. Cindy and another lady show advanced options, 1 exerciser shows beginner, and 1 intermediate. They use a 4# med ball, dumbbells, jumprope, and a stability ball. Someone shows the moves using no props, or they suggest an alternative. They are working out on a back patio w/ a nice pool in the background. Its a very nice set. The workout is divided up into segments w/ a screen that comes up introducing the next segment. The dvd is chaptered. You repeat the moves in each section 3 or so times.

Warmup Stretch: some cardio moves and some stretching get you started.

Cardio: First is various jump rope moves for one minute. She does some fancy stuff but says to do whatever you want. One guy doesnt use a rope at all. Then you pick up your medball and do a jack while throwing the ball overhead, a side to side squat, jumping back and forth over the jumprope. You do the sequence 3 times.

Shoulder Weights: Using dumbbells they do upright rows, overhead pulse, lateral raises and rotator cuffs. Repeat a few times.

Cardio: You start with blowouts (burpees), then you jump back and forth with your med ball between your knees, and then do a football shuffle/quick feet,  This section is tough!

Biceps: With dumbbells, alternating bicep curls, both weights in one hand concentration curls, and a few other bicep curl variations.

Cardio Toning: Repeater legs to the side and back, scissor jumps, pushups, Mt. climbers, shuffle squats while putting down and picking up med ball , ab twists while holding med ball, side lunge w/ a leg lift. Another tough segment!

Toning: All on the stability ball: (one modifier does the moves on the floor) frog leg lifts, flutter legs, shins on the ball-pulling legs in, oblique crunches w/ med ball on chest, twists, dips off the ball with the med ball between knees (one modifier uses a stair, one on the floor), tricep extensions w/ the med ball. Then there are some side reaches not on the ball.

Cool Down Stretch: led by someone else. I didnt do this segment.

I would say this is a low advanced or high intermediate workout: jumproping, blowouts, and alot of the cardio moves she did were real calorie burners. You could definately heavy up on the dumbbells and use a heavier med ball for the toning moves. The toning segments arent all that long though and there isnt a a lot of weighted lower body work. What I often do is use medium/ light dumbbells and stick w/ the lighter med ball and use this for a cardio day.

I really like that there are 3 different modifiers so you really have your choice of what you want to do. I wish more workouts included both a beginner and an advanced modifier. Love Cindy, one of my favorite instructors- great personality and cueing. She always includes fresh and fun moves to keep the w/o interesting.

Barrys Bootcamp Belly Blaster Review

Barrys Bootcamp Belly Blaster
Cindy Whitmarsh, Barry Jay, 2008

This 15 minute ab workout was fun and challenging. Similar in format to the other workouts in the FatBlaster set. Each exercise lasts one minute with 30ish seconds inbetween to set up for the next more/ get your equipment ready. Cindy leads w/ Barry walking around giving tips and providing motivation. The set is a nice room w/ carpet and wooden panels on the walls-  bright & nice. Madison provides the beginner modifications. You will need the Transformer ball and an exercise band.

Some of the moves are standing-torso twists w/ the band, side bends w/ the band. Some are on the ball-full sit ups using the band. Some are on the floor-bycicle holding the transfomer ball over your head. The moves were different than the moves in the other 2 ab workouts. I found them unique and fun (still challenging of course!). By the end my abs are definately feeling it!

I would rate this a solid intermediate ab w/o. Its a nice addition to the Fat Blaster series and provides some additional variety when doing a longer BBC rotation. I did not receive this DVD to review

Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Set Review

Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Set
Barry Jay, Cindy Whitmarsh, 2008

This set comes with 3 dvds. There is a lower body dvd, upper body dvd, and a code red (get fit quick in 6 days) dvd. The upper and lower body dvds each have a 21 minute w/o and 6 additional Mision Specialist w/o's on them. The MS w/o's are 12 min each and are: upper body-beginner, lower body-beginner, abs-beginner, upper body-advanced, lower body-advanced, and abs-advanced. The Code Red dvd is 15 minutes and is total body strength work-no cardio.

The kit also comes w/ resistance cord handles and 2 strengths of interchangable resistance bands. The green band is level 1 (beginner strength) and the black is level 3 of 4. The black band is pretty tough. It also comes w/ a torpedo shaped ball, the Transformer. The transformer ball is used as a weight bench, stability ball, and a prop for cardio & strength moves. The resistance bands can go around the ball while you are laying on it-so you can do bench press or pec fly for example.

There is a countdown banner on the bottom of the screen that counts down each minute. A buzzer goes off at the 10 seconds remaining mark and Cindy, barry & crew countdown. Cindy actually leads the w/o's and Barry walks around with motivational pointers and form tips. They work well together and have a nice repoir.

Each workout is short but tough! You can use them for time crunched days as is or combine a few for a longer w/o. I like to use one fat blaster w/o, a corresponding (UB or LB) mission specialist, and an ab w/o for a 50 minute w/o. I love that I can get in strength and cardio each day! The 1 minute format really makes the tough moves doable. I am able to really push myself because I know its only going to be 60 seconds.

This set is perfect for beginners, intermediates, and advanced exercisers. Cindy does the intermediate level and they also have a beginner and advanced modifier for each move. And you have your choice of band strength. Using the black band and following the advanced modifier I can really get a great, heartpumping, calorie burning, workout in!

Like I said, Ive had great results with this set. Lost 8 lbs (putting me at a lifetime low), gained cardio endurance, got to doing toe pushups, and noticed muscle definition in my biceps. Even after doing it for 8 weeks I could still feel it!

Exercise TV Incredible Abs Review Featuring Cindy Whitmarsh

Exercise TV Incredible Abs
Cindy Whitmarsh,  2010

This dvd has three separate 20 minute active ab workouts that you can do individually or "play all" for a 60 minute ab challenge! The set is nice and open, hardwood floors and bright walls. Cindy works out alone and gives great form pointers and reminders throughout. You will need light dumbbells for some of the work.

I seriously can't get over how unique and effective the ab work is in this. She does new fun moves, creating thoroughly effective core workouts. Each 20 minute w/o is the perfect intensity for me. By the end- my abs are screaming! But I can get to the end and finish strong. She hits the ENTIRE core here-upper, lower, mid abs, lower back, & obliques- nothing is missed. And my heartrate was up-BONUS! I would rate this as a solid intermediate ab workout.

The first workout has my new favorite ab move: runner abs- you're on your knees and you move your upper body/arms like your running-your abs will feel this! Very functional and effective. She also does V sits, plank knee pulls, arm walks (ouch!), side bends & reaches on your knees, some unique crunch variations, rocker abs (hits the obliques), corkscrew crunches, and more. A great way to spend 20 minutes on your abs and like I said, my heartrate was up!

The second workout is what I would classify as core cardio. Which I LOVE, I have 2 others core cardio w/o's and I use them constantly! She does a few ab/ core moves and then a nice cardio burst. Some of the moves include jump rope w/ knee pulls, a side lunge/ leg lift swing move, standing crunches, rocker abs (oblique bends), bob and weave, burpee/ blowout into updog, side plank w/ a twist, plank jacks w/ a knee tuck (tough!).

In the final workout Cindy does a 10 minute routine -first the right side, then the left side. Then she finishes up with 10 more minutes of ab work. This workout is all standing or in plank position. Some of the moves include a dip w/ an upper body twist, a dip with a dumbbell chop, a 1/2 moon (pull knee up to side and arm down to knee while standing), plank w/ clock toe taps, a dumbbell pulldown, and lower body pull, etc. This workout flew by! Lots of good active, purposeful ab/ core work.

While I truly enjoyed all 3 segments, this dvd is worth the purchase for w/o #2 alone. Core cardio workouts are excellent add-ons OR as stand alone workouts when you are time crunched. I add on ab/core work every day so these workouts are a welcome addition to my collection. No boring crunches! All fun effective and ACTIVE! Highly recommended!!!!

Natural Journey's Total Body Sculpt Review

Natural Journey's Total Body Sculpt
Cindy Whitmarsh, 2007

This w/o features Cindy working out alone in a nice set with hardwood floors with some fitness props around the perimeter. You will only need dumbells for this workout, she uses one set, I used a variety. The workout is divided up into five 10 minute segments (UB, LB, abs, stretch, and cardio). You can play all or each segment individually but there is no mix and match option.

Upper Body: I was able to use pretty heavy weights in this section. She does a lot of multi-muscle moves & some unique moves. The only one I had to alter because of my heavier poundage was when she did a 1 arm bicep curl into a military press, then into a tricep extension- I just used both arms for my tricep extension. She hits every UB muscle group pretty well. She includes a  nice back & chest section on the floor and you will do some pushups.

Lower Body: There were actually some nice unique LB moves in here and I was able to use my heaviest weights for the duration. A variation of a 1 legged deadlift,  side squats, and side lunges. She also includes a nice floor section - outer thigh lifts and donkey kicks.

Abs: I was feeling this one! She includes planks, side planks, and plank taps. Again some unique moves- an oblique pinch and theres is a bit of standing ab work in the beginning.

Cardio: No fancy cardio just basic athletic style to get your heartrate up. She keeps it fairly low impact but I added more hops and plyos and my heart was really pumping! You will see jumping jacks, side touches, skiers, side hops, and jump rope.

Stretch: I didnt do the stretch segment.

I would rate this a solid intermediate workout but basically any fitness level could benefit by adjusting their poundage. If you are a Cindy fan and/or like the 10 minute format this is a great dvd to have in your collection. While I wouldnt say its nec a must have, it has a great place in my collection as I love both Cindy & 10 minute add-ons. Its great to use in its entirety or added to other w/o's. Cindy is a great lead and cues well.

Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Set Review

Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster

Barry's Bootcamp Belly Blaster Workout

Barry's Bootcamp Belly Blaster Workout
Barry Jay, Cindy Whitmarsh, 2008

This 15 minute ab workout was fun and challenging. Similar in format to the other workouts in the FatBlaster set. Each exercise lasts one minute with a 30 second rest inbetween each exercise. Only a beginner modificaiton is shown-maybe we are already doing the advanced move? This is10 of Barry's favorite exercises.

Some of the moves are standing ab moves, such as: torso twists with the band, side bends with the band. Some are on the ball-full sit ups using the band. Some are on the floor-bycicle holding the transfomer ball over your head, a V sit, and some plank moves. By the end of the 15 minutes my abs are definately feeling this! The time goes by fast.

The moves were different than the moves in the other 2 ab workouts. I found them unique and fun (still challenging of course!) Like the rest of the BBC w/o's, Cindy actually leads the workout and Barry Jay walksround for motivation and gives form advice. The set is different from the other Fat Blaster w/o's. Its a nice open room with about 6 background exercisers.

Barry's Bootcamp Lower Body Fat Blaster Review

Barry's Bootcamp Lower Body Fat Blaster
Barry Jay, Cindy Whitmarsh, 2008

Lower Body Fat Blaster is 21 minutes plus a short warmup. The moves are typical bootcamp type moves and each exercise lasts for only one minute with a 30 second break inbetween each exercise. The 30 seconds is used to set up for the next move-get or put away your ball & bands, etc. They alternate between strength and cardio moves. Cindy actually leads the workout and Barry walks around with form pointers and commentary. Cindy & Barry work well with each other. There are a lot of background exercises working out behind them. Cindy does the intermediate level and there is an advanced and beginner modifier.

Some of the strength moves included crabwalks w/ the band, squats, pliets & lunges w/ and w/out the band, etc. The cardio moves include, mountain climbers, one legged hops, jumping back and forth, tuck jumps, etc. These last for a full minute and some of them get TOUGH by the last 15 seconds!

Following the advanced modifier & using the black band this is a pretty tough w/o! The cardio is pretty hard core and my buns/ legs were still this AM from Tuesdays w/o! My heartrate gets way up there during some of these moves and stays pretty high for the entire 21 minutes. I would rate this w/o as a high intermediate following Cindy but can easily be modified up or down to suit your needs. Great for all levels and really packs a punch in a short amount of time!

Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Upper Body Review

Barry's Bootcamp Fat Blaster Upper Body
Cindy Whitmarsh & Barry Jay, 2008

The workout is 21 minutes plus a short warmup. It is led my Cindy with Barry wandering around. There is a beginner and advanced modifier throughout. Each exercise is one minute with a 30 second "rest" inbetween that is used to set up the next move and get your ball or cord ready. She alternates strength and cardio moves. Some of the exercises include pec flys on the transformer ball using the cords, burpees (including a hop at the end-TOUGH!), fast run then down to a Mt. Climber on Barry's cue, upper cuts using the cords, jumping jacks pushing the transformer ball back and forth, tricep dips off the ball (TOUGH), etc.

This is 21 minutes well spent! I am surprised how many calories I burn in such a short amount of time. For my UB day I love doing the Fat Blaster UB, a Mission Specilast UB, and a Mission Specialist ab w/o for a challenging 50 min w/o!

The bands seemed a bit too long when wrapped around the ball. So I usually use dumbbells for the moves where you have the band wrapped around the ball. You can use 2 bands in the handles at once, which would make it tougher but that seemed like a lot of extra work.

Cindy Whitmarsh actually leads the workouts. I think she is a good lead-not too overzealous, not too serious. Barry walks around and says things like "great abs arent made in the gym, theyre made in the kitchen so be sure to eat right too" and he pushes down on exercises shoulders for added resistance. He is quirky and I liked him too.

They show a beginner and an advanced modifier with Cindy doing intermediate. Using the black bands and following the advanced modifier you can get an advanced w/o! Most all of the cardio moves are quite challenging! And the strength moves are effecitve!

DVD GIVEAWAY: Cindy Whitmarsh: Incredible Abs

Review: Cindy Whitmarsh: Incredible Abs ***** (5 of 5 stars)

This dvd has three separate 20 minute active ab workouts that you can do individually or "play all" for a 60 minute ab challenge! The set is nice and open, hardwood floors and bright walls. Cindy works out alone and gives great form pointers and reminders throughout. You will need light dumbbells for some of the work.

I seriously can’t get over how unique and effective the ab work is in this.

The first workout has my new favorite ab move: runner abs- you’re on your knees and you move your upper body/arms like your running-your abs will feel this!

Cindy Whitmarsh's UltraFit DVD Review

UltraFit
Cindy Whitmarsh

This workout was originally named Ultra Fit and came with a book (Ive read it, its good!). Then Natural Journey put it out under the name: Ultra Fat Burning Workout.

Cindy leads the workout with 4 other exercisers. Cindy and another lady show advanced options, 1 exerciser shows beginner, and 1 intermediate. They use a 4# med ball, dumbbells, jumprope, and a stability ball. Someone shows the moves using no props, or they suggest an alternative. They are working out on a back patio outside. Its a very nice set. The workout is divided up into segments w/ a screen that comes up introducing the next segment. The dvd is chaptered.

Warmup Stretch: some cardio moves and some stretching get you started.

Cardio: First is various jump rope moves for one minute. She does some fancy stuff but says to do whatever you want. One guy doesnt use a rope at all. Then they pick up their medballs and do a jack while throwing the ball overhead, side to side squat, jump back and forth over the jumprope. She repeats the sequence a few times.

Shoulder Weights: Using dumbbells they do upright rows, overhead pulse, lateral raises and rotator cuffs. Repeat a few times.

Cardio: Blowouts (burpees), they jump back and forth with a med ball between their knees, quick feet, etc. Repeat a few times.

Biceps: With dumbbells, alternating bicep curls, both weights in one hand concentration curls, etc. Repeat a few times.

Cardio Toning: repeater legs to the side and back, flunges (scissor jumps), pushups, Mt. climbers, shuffle squats while putting down and picking up med ball , ab twists while holding med ball, side lunge-leg lifts. Repeat a few times.

Toning: All on the stability ball: (one modifier does the moves on the floor) frog leg lifts, flutter legs, shins on the ball-pulling legs in, crunches w/ med ball on chest, twists, dips off the ball with the med ball between knees (one modifier uses a stair, one on the floor), tricep extensions w/ the med ball. Then there are some side reaches not on the ball.

Cool Down Stretch: led by someone else.

Some of these cardio moves (jumprope, blowouts, plyos, explosive jumps) are advanced for sure! I really got my HR up and I was a sweaty mess by the end. You could definately heavy up on the dumbbells and used a heavier med ball for the toning moves (I used an 8# ball). The toning segments arent all that long though and there isnt a lot of weighted lower body work. I really like this workout, again Im seeing unique and fun moves without complicated choreo. Loving the calorie burn on this one! Cindy is an excellent lead. I like her demeanor and her cueing is spot on!
