ActivMotion Bar IGNITE 60-Day Program Review: Strength 2

I am super excited about the new innovative ActivMotion Bar’s new IGNITE 60-day program. The ActivMotion Bar is a hollow body bar with rolling weights inside designed by Derek Mikulski, CSCS. The bar engages unique muscle activation and enhances the calorie burning benefits of your workouts! The 60 Day Ignite program includes 15 online workouts that blend cardio, strength, core work, and flexibility plus anti-aging balance work. Work your muscles in a whole new way with one piece of equipment and have fun while you are working out. The bars are available in multiple weights so you choose which bar is right for you. Keep reading to learn more about this fun and effective new program and stay tuned on the blog for detailed reviews of the new IGNITE workouts.

ActivMotion IGNITE Integrated Flexibility
Adrian

You will only need your ActivMotion bar for this 27 minute toning & cardio routine. Adrian works out with 2 background exercisers. Each exercise is performed for one minute.

After a warm-up, exercises include torso rotation & side bends holding the bar, plank reaches, superman, side plank using the bar, static squat & bar rotations, skater, static lunge & overhead press, tap backs & side bend with bar tilts, balance stick with knee pull & bar work, windmill, squat hold & bar rotations, and a cool down.

I rate this a solid intermediate routine using the 6 lb bar. Adrian provides lots of combo moves to get your heart rate up & shows modification options up & down. The pace of each exercise is slow so you could definitely use a heavier bar in this routine. She provides a lot of instruction so you get some nice breaks between each exercise. I received access to this routine to review.

ActivMotion IGNITE Kicker: Kayak AdventureDerek

You will only need your ActivMotion bar for this 7 minute kayak adventure. This is my favorite workout so far!!! Derek works out alone and guides you through a "kayak adventure." From paddling a kayak, hopping from rocks to rocks, swimming, paddle boarding, & more- this is an awesome workout structure.

This routine includes V sit paddling in your "kayak" adding a leg raise and double leg raise, swimmers, stand up paddling, diagonal skater hops, and crawling through the brush (to get to your car of course).

This is a solid intermediate routine. This is a super fun "adventure" and I would LOVE to see more workouts structured like this. It made the time fly by & made the workout a lot of fun. Very unique & I really enjoyed the format. Great functional fitness that hits the core &moreI received access to this routine to review.

ActivMotion IGNITE Kicker: 10 Minute Plank
Derek

You will only need your ActivMotion bar for this 10 minute plank routine. Derek works out alone in this one and does offer modifications, though the goal is to stay in plank/ plank variations for the entire 10 minutes.

This routine includes  high & low plank, lateral plank walks & knee pulls, side plank, dolphin dives, side plank holding the bar & bar arcs, plank kick throughs, plank to pike, single arm & leg plank, and plank rotations holding the bar.

This is an advanced workout-while it is only 10 min log-you are holding plank & plank variations for the full 10 minutes. The goal is to not drop your knees at any time for the entire workout. Derek does offer modifications and you can easily drop to your knees as needed to modify this routine. The bar is only used for a few exercises in this one. I received access to this routine to review.

ActivMotion IGNITE Balance 2Donna

You will only need your ActivMotion bar for this 27 minute functional balance routine. Donna offers some modification options throughout. The bar has markers showing where you should keep your hands for optimal balance.

This routine includes a warm up and concludes with a stretch. Exercises include single leg bridge series, side plank leg raises, super man using the bar for resistance, walking forward & back variations with the bar, warrior 3 bar & leg raise, lunge to dip, hinged bar swing, and static lunge with single arm overhead press.

Using a 6 pound bar, I found this to a beginner appropriate routine. The focus is on keeping the balls in the center of the bar and has some balance work included. With a heavier bar, this could be  used as a low intensity toning workout. The workout definitely has a functional feel. I received access to this routine to review.

ActivMotion IGNITE Cardio 2
Derek

You will only need your ActivMotion bar for this 25 minute routine. Each exercise is performed for 30-60 seconds. Modification options are shown throughout to increase or decrease the intensity. This workout is low impact & contains combination strength exercises performed at a quick pace.

After warming up, exercises include plank, slow plank jacks, single leg bridge, dip & bar to overhead tri drop, lunge hold & bar tip & overhead press, side plank, squat & bar rotation, pushups, bird dog or 2 leg plank reach, side lunge with bar drop & reach, plank knee pulls & kick throughs, windmill, squat & one arm overhead press, and
concludes with a stretch.

Using the 6 lb bar, I found this to be a low intermediate routine and Derek provides a lot of rest breaks to provide instruction. If you are using a heavier ActivMotion bar this would definitely be a strength workout. Using the 6 pound bar it provided a light toning with a light cardio effect. Because of the design of the bar- all the moves provide a great core workout. I received access to this routine to review.

ActivMotion IGNITE Cardio 1Derek

You will only need your ActivMotion bar for this 27 minute routine. Each exercise is performed for 30-60 seconds. Modification options are shown throughout to increase or decrease the intensity. This workout is low impact & contains combination strength exercises performed at a cardio pace.

After warming up, exercises include plank hip dips, squat & front raise, side plank hip dips, side lunge bar arc, superman, knee raises, leg raises w bar extended, dip & "steering wheel" with the bar, plank knee pulls, hinged tap back with bar rotation, lunge & bar tilt, and concludes with a stretch.

Using the 6 lb bar, I found this to be a low intermediate routine and Derek provides a lot of rest breaks to provide instruction. If you are using a heavier ActivMotion bar this would definitely be a strength + cardio workout but the 6 pound bar really just upped the cardio intensity for me. The workout does contain a lot of core work and the balls in the bar really add a balance challenge that I could really feel in my core. I received access to this routine to review.
