My Motivation Board!

Heres a motivation board I made. It hangs in my workout room aka The Hello Kitty Gym. It has some of my magazine articles and race photos. Funny I used the same app for the race photos in this picture, that I used to frame this picture....

Welcome to My Hello Kitty Gym!

Yes I work in out in a Hello Kitty Gym! Hey, it may be the one & only:

Heres some of my fun gadgets

lets see: bands, balls, disc, weight belt, step, hoop, weighted balls, DVDs, tubing, mini kettlebell (got rid of my heavy ones), rebounder, yoga mat, fan & AC (it gets HOT IN HERRR), I love all

And here's all my lighter weights
Its fun to think back, those 8's were once my heavy weights!!! Don't forget, everyone starts sometime, somewhere. Now I rarely use the 8's for strength work!

And heres a pretty clear picture of my awesome DVD collection!
DVD's under the TV & the water cooler. That is a handmade (my mama) Hello Kitty valance, and yes that is a Hello Kitty water cooler. No gym is complete without one...

Heres a few older pics

Review: COREGEOUS with Jill Miller

Today's Reivew: COREGEOUSJill Miller Workout, 2012
COREGEOUS, newly released by Jill Miller in April 2012, is the latest workout by creator of Yoga Tune Up. With a total running time of 105 minutes, the DVD includes seven transformational workouts. From the main menu you have the option of selecting either of the four main sequences - as well as the option to Play All - or one of the three specialty workouts. For the workout you will need a stability ball, Yoga Tune-Up Therapy Balls, Soft Sponge ball and Yoga Block - substitutions include tennis balls, large book or a blanket. An optional mat will be needed depending on your workout surface.

COREGEOUS with Jill Miller contains four complete fifteen to twenty minute workouts:
  • Core Re-Form provides a deep tissue massage to release knots and trigger points while activating connections to key respiratory muscles that support your spine and core.
  • Get COREganized establishes proper spinal alignment and breathing patterns by using all of your "Coreso" muscles to improve access to the innermost abs including transverse abdominals, diaphragm, iliopsoas, obliques, and more!
  • InCOREporate builds a strong lower back and revitalizes the muscles of the ribcage to stitch the seams of your torso together from top to bottom. Awaken quadratus lumborum, lattisimus dorsi, serratus anterior and more!
  • Get COREgeous challenges your balance and engages all of your core muscles to master stability, agility and fluidity while challenging your balance in different gravitational planes. The entire body works together as one seamless unit.
The three supplementary workouts range from five to ten minutes and include Tubular Core Activation, which establishes proper breath mechanics, while Abdominal Massage improves overall circulation and locates abdominal knots and adhesions that prevent functional core reactivity, and Abdominal Churning shows you the spellbinding possibilities of "coreso" mastery.

COREGEOUS is a great addition to any exercise DVD library. The poses in the workout are designed to help eliminate stress, block out outside "energy" and other barriers to allow for the free flow of energy throughout your body. Jill does a wonderful job of carefully demonstrating and explaining each exercise so you can easily follow along. She provides lots of great information on how to properly perform each exercise and tells us which muscle were targeting. She has a wonderful demeanor and was great to workout with.

New Purse: Check out my new purse. I LOVE it!! It was only $25! I got it in Vegas- super excited about it :)

Today's Tip: Dont Forget Eccentric Exercises
We like to work the muscles we can see in the mirror (like our abs), but we can't ignore our backsides, especially the muscles around our spine, Olson says. For example, we tend to crunch, curl, and shorten our abs, but it's also important to try some eccentric movements to help balance out the strength of those muscles during "lengthening" movements. Ageless with Kathy Smith: Total Body Turnaround Review (& Hello Kitty Surprise....)

Today's Review: Ageless with Kathy Smith: Total Body Turnaround
Kathy Smith, 2011 **** (4 of 5 stars)

This dvd offers three 20 minute workouts: circuit, balance, and energy. Kathy works out alone but offers lots of modification options. The set is a really nice open living room type set. You will need dumbbells for the circuit workout and the dvd offers some bonus features such as other Acacia w/o clips & a Kathy Q&A.

Total Circuit: This segment alternates cardio and strength exercises. Kathy suggests 3-8 pound weights. I went heavier, but the pace doesnt allow for heavy weights. It is more of a moderate pace high rep. Exercises include: cardio lunge variations, bi curl variations, overhead press, squat hops, 1 leg floor touch squats, single leg deadlift, tri kickbacks, pushup variations, etc.

Total Balance: This segment focuses on balance but adds in some nice body weight exercises and is plenty active. She includes movement - stopping- and balancing -very functional. Exercises include: side step-balance leg up, 1st position pliet & hip circles, pliets add heel ups & big arms, balance knee up, balance leg extensions, oblique knee pulls, side squat knee ups, etc.

Total Energy: this is a unique segment that includes athletic stretching with dynamic movement. Exercises include: chair pose, table position hip circles & oblique crunches, loosening stretches, lower body floor stretches, posture exercises, rib & hip shifts & circles, ankle & wrist circles, superman & swimmer.

I would rate this workout a solid intermediate- I was expecting it be lighter, but was pleasantly surprised. Kathy looks FANTASTIC and is pretty mellow in this one in a good way. I enjoyed the workout and found it pretty unique. Like the 20 minute options and appreciate the balance segment as balance is not my strong suit. I received this dvd to review.

Last Weekend: Went to a step class with a friend- it was super complex choreo so I didnt too as well as Id hope choreo wise but did very good intensity wise. I actually ended up (only step left) with 2 sets of risers and no-one else did (so there!) yes Im a bit bitter about the choreo so Im taking what I can get LOL. And I added hops to my steps, and did my own thing when I couldnt follow the choreo so all in all guess Im happy :) got my hair done- more red this time. Will post pics eventually. I also got this Hello Kitty tattoo. I am done w tattoos, I swear, no more......for real....

Today's Tip: Fight Cancer & Eat at least 2 cups of fruit and 3 cups of vegetables every single day. Include fruit in every breakfast and snack meal and veggies at each lunch and dinner meal. The World HealthOrganization (WHO) estimates that a low intake of fruits and vegetable contributes to five to 12 percent of all cancers and up to 30 percent of upper gastrointestinal cancers that are otherwise preventable. That's pretty powerful. Read more on Shape.

Do or Die FitnessPeople love Do or Die Fitness products because they make exercise easy. Their American made products are new, innovative and can reduce discomfort in your wrists, neck and knees. Read what the creators have to say about their innovative products:

Wrist Wedges were designed to take pressure off the wrists by creating an angle that lessens the amount of wrist extension.  For people who have limited extension the Wrist Wedges gives them the support they need to give them relief. Additional benefits are that it takes pressure off of the carpal nerve potentially helping people with carpal tunnel syndrome.
The Knee Donuts were designed  to cushion the knees while keeping the kneecaps(patellas) from having any contact from the floor. This is different from existing products in that many offer a soft surface but the kneecap still has weight on it.  By creating a “donut” anyone who feels knee discomfort can experience relief.  The knee donuts are extremely versatile.  They can be used in fitness, Pilates, and yoga. They can also be used in gardening and can benefit people in physical therapy and are safe for people who have had knee replacement.
The Neck Circle was designed for people who experience neck pain while exercising or who just have “cranky” necks. Most people have their head thrust forward where the neck is in a less than ideal place. This is because we sit at computers for hours during our day. Driving and cell  phones also add to our less than ideal posture. Consequently, when we lie down our head naturally arches back, which can compress the cervical spine. Most of us aren’t aware we are even doing this but by putting the Neck Circle under the head it places the head in a biomechanically correct position. This provides relief to many people. The Neck Circle can be used during any exercise on your back including stretching and Shivasana. We also recommend lying on the floor with a Neck Disc for five minutes for every 90 minutes of computer time to keep your neck muscles relaxed. Read more about Do or Die Fitness Products on their website or on the Two Belles interview with the creators.

HELLO KITTY GYM Pics & Jeanette Jenkins Kickboxing Bootcamp Review

Today: Finally getting the Hello Kitty gym pics up! Went with the light blue paint. Was very close to going with pink but was afraid I would tire of it....What do you think???? You can click on the photos to make them bigger :) or check them out on Fitness For the Rest of Us' facebook page here

This Weekend: I hope to plant some of the seeds I bought last weekend. I got hot peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, and herbs. Also going to get a cute fairy tattoo w/ a friend tomorrow -woot! And I need to finish a baby blanket I am crocheiting for a friends shower in late April. Grocery shopping and cooking. Need to get to Costco. Busy weekend!

Today's Review: The Hollywood Trainer: Kickboxing Bootcamp
Jeanette Jenkins, 2003

Jeanette leads this kickboxing + strength w/o in a really nice outdoor courtyard! She works out with 2 b/g exercisers. The dvd is chaptered very well so you can select the combo you want to do or play all for a nice 50 min workout. You will need dumbbells for this workout.

I like that she combines straight forward kickboxing moves into simple routines but doesnt rep you to death. Jeanette does a great job keeping things moving along w/out rushing us- very good balance. This w/o includes kickboxing, sculpting, balance & core work. She finishes the w/o with a few quick ab moves & a stretch.

Kickboxing exercises include: knee ups, balancing rear kick, double jab to the corners, knee pull- heel tap (really hits the abs & obliques), various punhces & punch combos (jab, cross, upper, hook), various kicks & kick combos (slap kick, roundhouse, front kick, etc.), punch kick combos. Strength exercises include: pliet w/ clean & press, pushups, statick lunge w/ bi curl, dip-knee up-bi curl, pliet upright row/ shoulder raise, glute lift-delt raise, rotator cuff -glute lift, crunches & double crunches.

I am a huge fan of Jeanette and this w/o didnt disappoint! I would rate this a solid intermediate w/o that would be easy to to modify up or down. I wore my weighted gloves & added some plyos for a nice calorie burn. Oh they do wear and refer to HR monitors & calorie burn often in this w/o. She has a great energy & you can tell she is enjoying herself. (I didnt receive this dvd to review but I won it in a FB contest WOOTWOOT!)

Eden Fantasys Shout Out! (Possible Adult Content)

Potential adult content below! Proceed at your own risk.
But dont worry, nothing too risky and is all presented with utmost taste.

Eden Fantasys is an adult novelty store that sells beautiful lingerie in a large array of sizes (including plus sizes), adult toys, massage oils, gift cards, sexy and fun Halloween costumes, and dvds. They offer FREE shipping on orders over $59.00! There are also user reviews of their products and discreet shipping.

My joint venture blog Win, Lose, or Blog was lucky enough to have Eden Fantasys sponsor a prize for one of our winning contestants or comment "cheerleaders"! We thought that a cute piece of lingerie for a winner would be a nice way to celebrate the loss of some unwanted pounds! Thank you Eden Fantasys for your generosity!

Their marketing gal that I corresponded with was more than pleased to sponsor Win, Lose, or Blog. Because she is also a BIG LOSER! She has transformed her body and is living a healtheir, happier life and was very excited about seeing other women out there do the same!

Eden Fantasys was generous enough to donate a $50 giftcard for lingerie or any of their other exciting products to Win, Lose, or Blog AND they sent me this cute corset top to review! I'm not sure who was happier to see this package arrive, DH or me...

Now unfortunately it doesn't look exactly like that on me LOL, but its still super cute and very flattering! The black bands that go down the torso have a thin but sturdy strip inside to help control the tummy! Always a plus in my book!

It is made of high quality cute and comfortable red fabric with a black lace overlay and trim. The back is completely lace up with a nice black ribbon but it also has a side zipper, so putting it on is super easy! The lace up back really allows for a custom fit. I am very impressed with the quality fabric and lace and the price! This beautiful corset top is only $57.99 at Edens Fantasy here.

They are running a fantastic lingerie sale right now. Their everyday low prices are 20% - 40% off! They have some really cute pieces along with some nice undies.

And I cant not post this: Hello Kitty Pocket Vibe. LOL this little cat really gets around, doesnt she...All this for only $29.99.

Another product catagory that Eden Fantasys offers, is sexy Halloween costumes! I looked for a female cop costume last year because DH went as a prisoner, but the only one I could find was about $75.00 (I went as Hello Kitty instead). So I was pleasantly surprised to find this cute little number at Eden Fantasy's for only $37.04!

Eden Fantasy's has some giveaways going on right now on some blogs that I follow. Head on over and enter to win:

  • Win, Lose, or Blog is giving away prizes just for commenting and following along during season 1. The $50 Eden Fantasy giftcard could be yours...

Workout 101

My only area of "expertise" is fitness, so I guess I will start there...I am a Firm girl at heart. This is the program that got me started on the right track to fitness. It features AWT (aerobic weight training). The workouts incorporate weights into the cardio so you are def maximizing your efforts here. Before I found the Firm I was killing myself with cardio and getting nowhere. Not anymore! Dumbbells are my friends-from 1# to 20#ers, I've got a complete collection.

Right now I am doing another Barrys Bootcamp Fat Blaster rotation. I did one last fall and lost 7.5 lbs in 8 weeks! I was very happy with my results, particularly because I didn't change my diet! Of course, I couldn't keep those lbs off but it was nice at the time. So anyways, I started this again last week and am down 3#'s from my normal weight (6#'s total if you count the 3 I was up)! I am actually content at my "normal" weight so the 3#'s down is just a bonus. I swear this program is seriously my magic bullet, if one exists! Here is a link to some reviews of the series that I posted on my fav website videofitness.com.

So you can decode my workout postings, here are some acronyms for this set: BBC= Barrys Bootcamp, FB = the Fat Blaster set (he has another earlier set that of course I have), LB= lower body, UB = upper body, w/o= workout (or work out for those who know the difference, I am not one that does so to forgo the gramatical error I always stick with w/o :), MS=the Mission Specialist w/o's in the BBC set...I think thats it for now...

Here is my very own custom BBC rotation I have been following:
M: BBC FB UB/ MS UB beginner/ MS abs advanced/ 10 min light cardio
T: BBC FB LB/ MS LB beginner/ MS abs beginner / 10 min light cardio
W: BBC FB UB/ MS UB advanced/ MS abs advanced/ 10 min light cardio

Fri: BBC FB UB/ MS UB beginner/ Belly Bootcamp/ 10 min light cardio
