Leslie Sansone Just Walk: 5 Boosted Miles! DVD Review

Leslie Sansone: 5 Boosted Miles!
Leslie Sansone, 2015

You can select a mile from the menu or play all. Leslie works out with 4 -6 backgrounders in her spacious studio. You wont need any equipment for this workout. Leslie adds in some jogs and "boosted" moves to up the intensity in each mile. One backgrounder shows the non-boosted option. You can select a music only option.

Between each mile is a short black screen and then you return to Leslie & the group. Leslie starts out with the basic knees, kicks, walking, and side steps and adds in walking up & back, jogs, hop kicks, side taps, ham curls, double side step, heel taps, skater, hip shifts & punches, mambo cha cha, pendulum hops, bounces, grapevine, boosted mambo, grapevine, and step knee up.

I rate this a low intermediate routine with basic choreography. The pace quickens and Leslie uses plenty of upper body action to get the heart rate up. The boosted portions are short but you can easily keep it low or boost for longer to fit your needs. This one easily adapts to the rebounder as well. Leslie is her usually bubbly self.

Leslie Sansone, 2014

This DVD contains ten 10 minute walk sections that you can mix and match to create many workout options. The DVD is fully chaptered, has music only options, and includes fun premixes. You will need optional light hand weights for some of the segments.  Leslie works out with a group of walkers in a spacious studio.

Light Walk: This section is meant to be used for the warmup or for a very light walk. Exercises include walk, side step, ham curls, walking up & back, and front heel taps all to a slower beat.

Dance Walk: Leslie adds a little flair to her traditional walk, front heel taps, front & side mambo adding a cha cha, double side step & grapevine.

Short & Sweaty: This is the most challenging of the bunch with a faster tempo and bigger arm movements. Exercises include low impact skater, side step, ham curl with up & out arms, low impact cardio lunges, kick & reach, and front heel taps.

Brisk & Steady: Exercises include walking, kicks, side step, knee pull, side tap with arm extensions, walk & overhead reach and walking up and back.

Lower Body Blast: This segment includes lots of squats, squat- lunge combos, and of course walking, side step, kicks, and walking up and back.

Interval: In this segment Leslie alternates slow/moderate tempo with 60 seconds of boosted walking. The boosted walking is jogging up, back and in place and the lower intensity exercises include walking, side taps, and side steps.

Walk, Kick, & Jab: In this segment Leslie mixes in low front kicks, double side step with low side kicks, jabs & crosses in with her normal walking, side taps, side steps, and walking up & back.

Tummy Toners: Interspersed with side step, and walking is low skater with a rotation, knee ups with rotation, double side step & reach, knee to elbow pull downs, side knee pulls, and front heel taps.

Flexibility Walk: This section is meant to be used as a cooldown and includes about 5 min of light walking, side steps, low kicks, and low knees, and 5 minute of standing stretches.

These are lower intermediate workouts. The DVD contains a ton of variety and I love the mix & match option. Leslie is her usual chatty, upbeat self and provides motivation as she goes. Each segment contains a healthy living tip. I enjoy the variety of segments and the ability to mix & match. This is a very versatile dvd. I received this DVD to review.

REVIEW ~ Leslie Sansone Just Walk: Five Mega Miles

Just Walk: Five Mega Miles
Leslie Sansone, 2013

This cardio & strength work out comes with a toning band - which is used for 2 of the included one mile programs. This chaptered dvd contains 5 one mile segments (13-15 min each) and a separate warm up & cool down (5 min each). Leslie works out with a group of exercisers in a loft style set.

Mile One: This is a straight forward lower impact walking routine. Exercises include: walking, jogging, side step, grapevine, knee ups, kicks, and walking up & back.

Mile Two: This routine alternates walking and band work strength segments. Leslie keeps the feet moving with the band work. Exercises include: walking, kicks, side step, walk & alt pull, knee up & steering wheel arms, tap out & bow & arrow pulls, ham curls, and walk & tri kick backs.

Mile Three: This is a higher intensity boosted mile. Exercises include: jogging up, knee ups, kicks, hi knee run, and side step.

Mile Four: This routine alternates cardio and strength work. Exercises include: side step, walk, kicks, toe taps, band lunges, bi curls, knee pulls, band squats, and band tri kickbacks.

Mile Five: This is a core focuses cardio mile. Exercises include: cardio lunges & reach, walk, knee ups, kicks, cross knee pull, cha-cha, side step, and grapevine. I added a loop for lower body work.

This dvd contains a lot of variety. Using a strong band & a loop to up the lower body work I got a great workout! Done following Leslie, I rate this an intermediate routine. This is a great dvd for those that want straight forward cardio & toning, an encouraging instructor, no complex choreo and plenty of variety. Over 80 minutes of fun exercise make this a great value! I received this dvd to review.

Just Walk: Walk it Off in 30 Days
Leslie Sansone, 2013

This dvd contains two 30 minute workouts, one strength training and one walking. Leslie leads with a group of walkers in a large loft type set. You will need dumbbells for the strength workout. The back cover advises you to walk 3 times a week and alternate with strength 2 times a week, providing a complete fitness program.

Burn 30: after a built in warmup you move into walking, kicks, side steps, knee pulls, ham curls, tap outs, step change, skater, jog front and back, & double side step. Leslie adds in a variety of arm movements to up the intensity & to keep it interesting.

Firm 30: after a walking warmup you move into 20 minutes of standing work: narrow squats & overhead press, squat pulses, pliets, lunge & upright row, kick backs, upper back fly, bicep curls, and overhead press. The workout concludes with 10 minutes of floor work: chest fly, bench press, weighted crunches, hundred, single let stretch, bird dog, and a stretch.

These are both intermediate routines. Both are straight forward and easy to follow along to. The pace of the strength workout allows you to heavy up if you wish. The cardio is mostly low impact with some higher intensity moves. Leslie provides good form pointers and the workouts both flow at a good pace. I received this dvd to review.
