Fusion Fitness Dream Body Cardio Series: Bata Barre Review

Ready to shock your body? Then you are ready for Fusion Fitness Dream Body Cardio Series. All new workouts from Darby Brender & all your Fusion Fitness ladies in one super cute set. The set includes five DVDs each in its own plastic DVD case in one convenient cardboard sleeve . Each DVD is 50-60 minutes and each will get your heart pumping, and your muscles burning! These are fast paced, advanced workouts that will have you sweating in no time. Each DVD has a different focus and are super unique from one another. Read my review of disk 5 below.

Francie Bradley, 2013

Francie leads this 55 minute tabata then barre routine in a cute studio. Francie works out with 2 backgrounders, Darby shows some modifications. You will need paper plates (or gliding discs), light weights, a stretchy loop, a chair or barre, and a small inflatable ball for this workout.  The DVD has a music only option. The first half is upper body focused (though hits LB too) cardio intervals followed by a lower body barre routine. The routine contains a warm up & stretch.

Tabata interval routine includes: weighted twisting knee pulls, X jumps using the loop & weights, tri dips and jacks using the loop, fast disc pull ins while in plank, kneeling punches, balance leg circles using the loop, loop pendulum jumps & shoulder press, V lean & leg scissors using the loop, tri pushups & plyo donkey kicks jumping in & back out to plank, and kneeing angled tri extensions.

Barre portion includes: dips using the plates with an inner thigh focus, close stance squat pulses, a standing balance series with the ball behind your knee, single leg squat with elbow to knee pull down using the ball behind your knee, single leg plank squeezing the ball in your knee, donkey series using the ball, supine leg circles using the ball, and double crunches with a twist.

This is a non-stop advanced routine! You use weights in the entire first portion really frying that UB. Francie keeps you moving and you will really feel the burn. I found this routine to be well rounded, hitting all my muscles & I worked up a sweat. Though not chaptered you could easily do just the interval portion or fast forward to the barre portion to shorten the workout. Francie is an excellent instructor that provides good form reminders. I received this DVD to review.

After a warm up the workout is about 20 minutes cardio followed by 20 min strength & a stretch. The DVD has a music only option.
The workout is composed of short timed interval sets, then repeated on the other side.

Cardio exercises include knee pulls & relovet hops, rocking horse, floor touch & kick, hand stand kick ups, single leg plank to pike using paper plates, single arm burpee & tri kick, plyo pendulum and standing side leg circles, plank moguls, 180 hops & core twists, floor touch jacks, weighted arm circles, and weighted speed bag with soccer feet.

These are fast paced, advanced workouts that will have you sweating in no time. Each DVD has a different focus and are super unique from one another. Read my review of disk 3 below:

Amy Person, 2013

This is a 60 minute kickboxing & toning workout set in a cute studio. You will need an exercise band and light weights for this routine. Amy works out with 2 other exercisers, each working out a varying intensity. The workouts jump right in and conclude with a cool down.

Band Work:
curtsy dip & jump switch, chair pose with punches, pulsing lunges & punches, dip & knee hop with big arms adding a hop, knee pulls, cardio lunges & cross punches, seal jacks, cross lunge & punches with a jump & oblique crunch, spider push ups to plank jacks, burpees, knee pulls & kicks, kick & squat with tri work, oblique band pull & twist, and crescent to squat & tri work.

Light Weight Work:
You do the circuit on one side, then repeat on the otherhook & hops front to back, punch-knee-kick combo, tap & slide with kicks & punches, skater & back kicks w/ overhead press & kickbacks, single leg hop & hook, double side hop & jacks with overhead press, speed bag & high knee run, punching jacks, scissor jacks, double crunch & leg drops, supine scissor jacks & crunch, supine toe reaches, circle abs, +& down dog pushups with arm pulls.

This is a non-stop advanced workout that will really burn out your arms and core. while burning a ton of calories. Amy wastes no time but I would not describe this routine as frantic. There is definitely a lot going on & a ton of great combo moves to keep your body guessing. Great unique moves and a lot of lower impact as well. I love the use of light weights & band in the cardio exercises to really burn out your UB. Amy's cuing is good and I liked her personality. I received this DVD to review.

Dream Body Cardio Series: inTense
Sadie Durbin, 2013

Sadie leads this 60 minute routine that is broken into six, ten-minute segments alternating between cardio, arms, and abs. She works out in a cute studio with 2 background exercisers. Each of the ladies performs varying intensities. You will need light weights, resistance band, paper plates (gliding discs), and a small ball for this routine. The discs in this set contain music on or off options.

For most sections, you perform the exercises for 5 min on one side then repeat on the other side. Each exercise is about one min each. You jump right into plank hop scotch, side lunge push offs, fast side gorilla steps, lunge knee pulls with big arms, squat hop & kick, elevator planks & push up ladder, wall squat with the ball in your knees & arm circles, swimmers, standing weighted oblique series, side elbow to knee pull down, downdog pushups, balance knee pull, plank to side plank variation, Mt climber to pike, plank series using the discs, disc jacks on your toes, butt kicks & hi knee run, toe squat pulses, a tri series in plank pose, one arm tri dip & reach, kneling band presses, reverse plank elevators, seated band work, and a weighted floor ab series.

This is a very advanced routine. Sadie uses light weights to up the intensity of the cardio and provides constant motivation & cuing. I love that all of the moves magically incorporate upper body, core & cardio all at once - so needless to say you will be thoroughly worked by the end of this workout. I received this DVD to review.

Interview with Fusion Fitness' Darby Brender (9-12-2012)

The Belles recently had the pleasure of reviewing the awesome Dream Body Workout from Darby Brender and Fusion Fitness! We loved the workout & found it  super fun, super effective, and super unique workout! Darby is ACE certified in group fitness and instructs live fusion classes in Kansas! We really enjoyed working hard with Darby in the workout and know you will too! You can see Darby’s passion and energy shining through in this upbeat workout! Which is why we were so excited about “interviewing” her! Keep reading for all the info:

Belles: We LOVE your Dream Body workout; do you have  any plans for a future workout? If so, what can you share with us about it?
Darby: Yes!  We do have plans for more workouts to share with those that are not located in Kansas City.  We will keep you posted, but soon you will be able to workout with us on a more regular basis!
Belles: What was your motivation behind your unique fusion workouts?
Darby: I have always been enthralled with fitness, healthful eating, and exercise.  As soon as I had my first child, and quit working full time I found myself at the gym for 2-3 hours a day.  I guess I had a lot of energy to burn, so I decided I could share this passion with other people and help inspire them to workout just a little bit harder.
Belles: You are obviously enthusiastic & educated in fitness, what got you started in the fitness industry?
Darby: I say I got started at age 6.  Spending countless hours in the Gym as a competitive gymnast.  I knew the stronger I was the better scores I would get at meets.  I spent evenings doing push ups, pull ups and sit up in grade school. I had always wanted to help people live fitter lives. After I decided to take my dream seriously as an adult, I got my ACE certification and began molding my class structures together. I put my muscle theory to music and it was magic! Our nonstop, challenging routines are a recipe for success for our clients.
Belles: You instruct live fusion classes Kansas, what can you tell us about them?
Darby: Our classes are full of wonderful, positive, goal driven individuals.  We are a team and we are here to support one another in all that we do.  Old and new friendships fill our classes, so does laughter. The classes have FUN, LOUD, music, along with Sweat dripping from wall to wall.  We have 2 studios in Kansas City.  They are both bright, energetic, and made for working out.
Belles: What is your best advice to those of us looking to lead  healthier, more active lives?
Darby: STICK WITH IT!  Find what motivates you and keep that in mind whenever you want to give up.  Eat to fuel your body. Believe in yourself. Give yourself the best life possible.
Thank you Darby for sharing your insights with our readers! We loved learning more about you & look forward to your future workouts! We wish we lived in Kansas so we could visit a live class!

Dream Body Workout Series: Tabata & Toning Review!

Fusion Fitness Presents: Dream Body Workout Series. It features FIVE  5 separate workout dvds all in one convenient dvd case. All are super unique and super effective, great fun and a great challenge! Keep reading for a review of disc 2: Tabata & Toning led by Francie.

Dream Body Workout Series, Tabata & Toning
Francie Bradley, 2013

Francie leads this 45 minute nonstop cardio & toning workout in a small studio with 2 backgrounders, one provides some lower intensity modifications. You will need a stretchy band, light (1-2#) dumbbells, and gliding discs (or paper plates) for this workout.

Dispersed into the workout are blocks of 6 cardio/ tabata bursts followed by 10 seconds of active toning work. You jump right into: disc burpees, moving Mt. climbers, fast paced 1 leg squats & arm raises, arms extended squats, weighted toe touch kicks, weighted fl touch hops, V sit floor leg series, burpee variations, weighted scissor jacks, dips & band triceps work, weighted floor core, plank toe taps, and ends with a cooldown & stretch.

This is a nonstop advanced workout- even Darby looks super worked by the end of this one! I started with 8# weights and within minutes went down to 5, 3, and then settled on 2’s. Francie keeps you moving the entire time and there is never a dull or wasted moment- when your working your triceps- your moving your legs or holding a static squat. She really makes the most of your workout minutes. If you cant keep her pace- the timed intervals allow you to go at your own pace. My heart was pumping and my muscles will certainly feel this tomorrow. SUPER unique and effective workout.  I received this dvd to review.
