Review: The FIRM Power Yoga with Kristen Strohecker

The FIRM Power Yoga
Kristen Strohecker, 2006

Kristen leads this 37 minute yoga-stretch-flexibility routine with 4 backgrounders on the BSS3 set. You wont need any equipment for this routine and Kristen offers plenty of modifications.

After a warm up, exercises include down to up dog flow, chattaranga, sun salutation flow variation, warrior 2 to a hamstring stretch, side angle pose, childs pose, table top shoulder & upper back stretch, bird dog adding knee to elbow crunch, pigeon,, seated low back stretch, butterfly stretch, reverse plank, and corpse pose.

This routine is suitable for all fitness levels. I like this yoga routine, it goes at a good pace so it keeps me focused. I am not in to slow moving yoga. Great for stretching, light toning, and flexibility. Kristen is a good lead and a good fit for a yoga workout. I did not receive this DVD to review.

Fitness Favorites Presents: The FIRM: Firm Cardio

Fitness Favorites presents digitally remastered, first time available on dvd- some all time favorite one of a king must have Firm workouts!!! Stay tuned for detailed reviews of more awesome Fitness Favorite dvds and below is my review of The FIRM: Cardio, originally released on VHS in 1995. Be sure to check the new 2014 Firm workout calendar on Fitness Favorites now.

Fitness Favorites: The Firm: Firm Cardio
Heidi Tanner, 2013

This is a 60 minute AWT (mostly strength) workout led by Heidi with a large number of background exercisers in the mansion set. You will need a variety of dumbbells, a fanny lifter or other adjustable step, and ankle weights for this. They also use an optional barbell.

This is a solid workout, hitting every muscle group. About 40 minutes of standing upper and lower body work interspersed with floor cardio, step, and 4 limb cardio and about 20 minutes of floor work. Some exercises combine lower and upper and they are combined appropriately so you can use the correct poundage.

The standing stregth work includes: leg press, lunges, dips, lunges, bicep curls, tricep dips w/ your feet on the box, hammer curls, overhead press, French press, lat row, lat raises, front raises, squats, etc. The floor work includes a nice long crunch series, pec fly, donkey kick variations, bridge, etc.

I would rate this a solid or high intermediate w/o depending on the poundage you use. Heidi is an excellent lead and cues very well. The exercises are all straight forward and easy to catch onto. You can really work all your muscles thouroughly if you heavy up. The time goes by quickly but the pace is not rushed. I received this dvd to review.

Fitness Favorites Presents: The FIRM Strength

Fitness Favorites presents digitally remastered, first time available on dvd- some all time favorite one of a king must have Firm workouts!!! Stay tuned for detailed reviews of more awesome Fitness Favorite dvds and below is my review of The FIRM: Strength, originally released on VHS in 1993. Be sure to check the new 2014 Firm workout calendar on Fitness Favorites now.

Fitness Favorites: The FIRM Strength
Pam Cauthen-Meriwether, 2013

This is a 59 minute mostly strength workout led by Pam in the library set with a large group of background exercisers. You will need a variety of dumbbells, an optional barbell, a tall box, and a pair of ankle weights for this workout.

You will do a few sets of leg press, dips, lunges, sqauts, plies, plenty of upper body work including back, shoulder, tricep, and bicep work with various different exercises for each body part. After about 40 minutes of standing work you go down to the floor for some lying inner thigh and ab work. My abs were definitely feeling it by the end!
Pam intersperses some cardio sets into the strength work to get/ keep your heartrate up. It is all basic athletic cardio and is easy to follow. There are also a few light 4-limb sections.

I like her as a lead. I would rate this workout a low advanced strength workout if you really heavy up. I like this workout and it thoroughly works all your muscle groups. She does go slow enough to allow for pretty heavy poundage (as far as Firm standards go). Pams cuing is good and I was never lost or wondering which leg now??? I received this dvd to review.
