URX-MT Total Body Metobolic Strength Conditioning Review

URX-MT Total Body Metobolic Strength Conditioning
Gay Gasper, 2011

Gay leads this 52 minute mostly cardio rebounding workout in a brick walled gym w/ 3 background exercisers. You will need 1-3 # sandweights and your Urban Rebounder. You wont be jumping on and off the UR very much in this one. You will be using the perimeter for the final strength work though.

While this is mostly old-school aerobic type cardio Gay does provide some strength work to finish up the workout. Exercises include: ham curls, knees, skis, power squats, step off the UR- plank- jack- then hop back on, moguls, single leg hops, a few tuck jumps, jump rope variations, plank to jumping jack combo, weighted roll backs, bridge tricep dips, weighted squat & jump combo, and hi to lo to side planks.

I rate this a solid intermediate workout- one of the less intense in the set. Gay is a good instructor but probably my least favorite in the set. Both her workouts are lower intensity than I expected. She doesnt use the sand weights in this very much- but you could easily use yours for the entirety to amp it up a bit. This one reminds me of a more challenging version of the original UR workouts. Its a good workout but not as intense as I would have expected for this set.

URX-MT Review: Cardio Metabolic Circuit Review

 URX-MT: Cardio Metabolic Circuit
Greg Sims, 2011

This is a 50 min C+S rebounder workout led by Greg in a nice brick gym set. He works out with 3 background exercisers. You will need a rebounder and 1-3 pound sand weights for this workout.

Exercises include: hops w/ a side crunch, lunge hops around UR w/ one leg on & one off, pliet pulses, weighted power lunges, pliet variations & holds, pliet hops, roll back & around UR, weighted core work, leg scissors, tuck jump vatiations, stick its, touch UR to a jump up, plank, weighted side plank w/ a top leg raise, unique bridge tri dip combo, star jumps-flying jacks, clean & press, V sits w/ weighted UB movements, long roll arounds, pushups.

I rate this advanced. This workout includes a LOT of great core work! Greg adds in lots of static arm holds while bouncing or doing lower body work so you really get to work the muscles even w/ the lighter weights. He does a great job of using the sand weights to keep the intensity up! Really really like this one and Greg as a lead. Cant wait to try more from him. I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: URX-MT Cardio Metabolic Interval Review

URX-MT: Cardio Metabolic Interval
Gay Gasper, 2011

Gay leads this 54 minute mostly cardio rebounding workout in a brick walled gym w/ 3 background exercisers. You will need 1-3 # sandweights and your Urban Rebounder. For the most part, you arent going on and off your UR in this w/o.

This workout is broken down into combos built add on style. Exercises include: power squats, bounce & jab, bunny hops, jacks, jogs, sprints, 180 hops, side leg lift bounce w/ a row, balance row, roll back on UR -jump up-jack on floor- repeat, tri pushups, pike heel taps, plank ham curls, plank jacks, weighted bridge , plank- side plank, and clam crunches. Gay includes a nice yoga-esque fast paced core routine in this one that I really enjoyed.

I rate this a solid intermediate workout- one of the less intense in the set. Gay is a good instructor but probably my least favorite in the set. Both her workouts are lower intensity than I expected. So while it isnt as challenging as I think it should be it is a good little cardio workout for days when you want a solid intermediate rebounding workout. Gay includes a lot of the original UR bounces in this one. I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: Metabolic Cardio and Yogic Intervals Review

URX-MT: Metabolic Cardio and Yogic Intervals Review
Greg Sims, 2011

Greg leads this 51 minute rebounding workout in a brick walled gym w/ 4 b/g exercisers (one being Gay Gasper-his wife?). This workout is both cardio & strength and IMO contains more strength work than any of the URX w/o's Ive done so far. You will need 1-3 # sand weights and your Urban Rebounder.

This workout is sequenced to get your heartrate up there-keep it up for a good length of time and then bring it back down with a static yoga pose that really hits your muscles.  Greg includes lots of repetitions of the exercises -working your muscles even with the light weights. So the sets are fairly long but Greg adds tempo changes & exercise variations to keep it interesting.

Exercises include: pushup variations (hands on UR, plyo pushups, traveling pushups w/ 1 arm on floor and 1 on UR), static punches, punch & knee combo, pliets to static pliets while curling the UR & rowing the UR, shoulder raise variations, X raises, yoga side angle lunge, weighted deadlift to explosive jumps, rows, weighted side knee pulls, static squat w/ weighted rapid fire punches, static warrior, 180 chair pose jumps, side angle pose w/ a standing crunch, and pulsing warrior.

I rate this an advanced workout.  I like Greg- good pointers & cuing. Really en joyed the format and found it to be an effective workout. The static yoga poses added to the muscle burn! The backgrounds are really having a good time in this one and you can tell they are all friends. Though by the end I found Gay/ other backgrounders almost distracting- but not enough to bother me. I like the format of this workout and found it unique from the others in the set. I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Reivew: Boot Camp Metabolic Interval

 URX-MT: Boot Camp Metabolic Interval
Amy Bento, 2011

Amy leads this 52 minute cardio + strength rebounding workout in a brick walled gym w/ 4 b/g exercisers. You will need 1-3 # sandweights and your Urban Rebounder.

This workout is formatted into sections of 2 minutes of work followed by 20-30 seconds of recovery. Amy does a great job of utilizing the rebounder & sand weights to really up the intensity of this workout. Tons of unique moves and tried & true exercises done in a new way on the UR. Love the intensity boost that the level changes of going on & off or over the UR provide. This is really a nonstop sweat fest! A great balance of strength & cardio work.

Exercises include: plyo pushups to Mt. climbers, plank moguls, plyo jacks, clock hop arounds (1 leg off UR 1 on), side plnank w/ a balance knee pull, soccer drill, bucket squat w/ big arms, tri dips around UR, sand bag slam moguls, offset deadlift w/ UB movements, crawling pushups, eleveator pushups, Mt climbers- jump on to UR and hop off, jogging, hopping on & off the UR, roll back on the UR and scoot around (core), halo & chop, and balance knee pulls

I rate this an advanced cardio & functional strength rebounding workout! Amy includes a huge variety of exercises so you will never get bored in this one. You will need space around your UR but like I said the on & off really amps up the intensity! A lot of good balance & core work. This is a great addition to the set. I was a sweaty MESS by the end! Received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: URX-MT High Intensity Metabolic Circuit With Resistance Bands

URX-MT High Intensity Metabolic Circuit With Resistance Bands
Gregg Cook, 2011

Greg leads this 50 min w/o in a in a brick walled gym w/ 3 b/g exercisers. This workout is cardio and strength reboundingYou will need 1-3 # sand weights,  your Urban Rebounder, and UR resistance bands for this workout.

The workout includes band & sand weight strength work and the sand weights are also used to amp up the intensity of the cardio. The workout is broken down into 3 circuits each containing 2 rounds of the each group of exercises and include recovery time. Each exercise lasts about 45 seconds followed by 15 seconds of active recovery (jacks, etc). There is no jumping on and off the UR in this w/o but you do use the perimeter of the rebounder for various exercises. The workout concludes with balance & core work.

Exercises include: overhead band squats, weighted rocket jumps, fast rotations, long arm extensions (core), band back fly, 1 leg band squats, band pushups, fast single leg hop w/ a front raise, weighted balancing swan dive, jump rope, burpees, circle hops, slow balance runner, weighted side V sits, reverse curls, & a tough knee balance core move.

I rate this an advanced workout- more cardio than strength but does provide some strength work. Greg provides excellent form pointers and his cuing is very good. He does a great job of utilizing the bands & sand weights to really amp up the intensity of this workout. I like him as a lead. Great addition to the set. Hope they put out more UR w/o's utilizing the bands! I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: URX-MT Metabolic Strength Cardio Interval

URX-MT Metabolic Strength Cardio Interval
Patrick Goudeau, 2011

Patrick leads this 45 minute rebounding workout in a brick walled gym w/ 3 b/g exercisers. This workout is mostly cardio but includes a nice core section at the endYou will need 1-3 # sand weights- and your Urban Rebounder.

Patrick doesnt use the sand weights a whole lot in this one but you could easily use them to amp up the intensity. You will be on and off your UR and have one foot off & one at times- I like the intensity push these types of exercises offer. Some of the moves will work your muscles but I found this to be mostly cardio.

Exercises Include: 180 jumps, hop on-off-and-over the UR, fast jog, knee pulls w/ 1 foot on the UR & one off, fast feet, step touch over the UR, single leg hop, tuck jumps, pulse & jump, star jumps, and core work includes: plank heel taps, plank side leg push through, plank knee pulls, plank jacks, hand walk arounds, feet on the UR planks, bicycles, V twists, plank to hi plank, and cat walks.

I would rate this a solid to high intermediate cardio workout. Patrick is a great lead and his cuing is right on. The core section is very unique and I def felt my core the next day. This is a great addition to the URX-MT set. Received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Reivew: Metabolic Interval & Circuits with Gregg Cook

URX-MT Reivew: Metabolic Interval & Circuits
Gregg Cook, 2011

Gregg leads this 49 minute workout in a brick walled gym w/ 3 b/g exercisers. There are a few strength moves, most of them being core work but the focus is cardio. You will need 1-3 # sandweights and your Urban Rebounder.

Gregg adds in 30 - 60 second power moves to this already intense cardio workout. You perform a set of exercises repeated with varying intensity and modifications for the majority of this workout. Gregg really varies the intensity and pace of each exercise so though the routine is repeated I was not at all bored- I was a bit too busy sweating & breathing heavy anyways! Gregg does a great job of keeping you moving- the pace is great and my heart rate really got up there. A lot of the arm movements are fresh and they all got my heart pumping. The addition of sand weights really upped the cardio effect.

Exercises include: plank & side plank off the UR, plyo pushups (really got my HR up!), jog, sprints, 180 jumps w/ a jab, single leg bridge, delayed jog, split dips w/ arm movements, jack & chop, side chop w/ a basic bounce, planks w/ arms on UR, lots of powerful arm movements while bouncing and finishes with core work: spiderman pushups w/ toes on UR, clam crunches w/ pec fly, long leg drops w/ the weights between your feet, weighted sit up toe touches, and a balancing core move on the UR.

I rate this an advanced cardio workout! Gregg's cuing & energy are great. I like him as a lead. While you are on and off the UR you are not jumping or stepping off it at all- just down on the floor/ UR for planks, bridges, etc. You will need some room around your UR for this one. Great workout -challenging & fun!!! Cant wait to  try more from Gregg! Received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Reivew: Maximum Metabolic Interval with Keli Roberts

URX-MT Maximum Metabolic Interval
Keli Roberts, 2011

Keli leads this 49 minute cardio & strength interval w/o with 3 b/g'ers (one of them is JoJo from the original UR w/o's). The set is a nice gym with brick walls. You will need a rebounder and 1-3 # sand weights for the workout.

The workout is structured that you do a strength exercise followed by a cardio exercise and then repeat that set one time. Keli does a good job of adding in fun new arm movements to make the workout interesting and to get that heart pumping. After a quick warmup you move into the intervals and the workout concludes with a lying section & stretch. I find stepping on and off the UR very similar to stepping onto and off a step bench-no problems here! You use the weights for the majority of the exercises :)

Exercises include: balance deadlift & row, side leg lift & bi curl, wide & narrow cross country skiing, weighted hover squats onto the UR & clean & press, jump on the UR and step off, side lunge into upright row & balance knee, skater leaps onto the UR w/ a torso twist, elevator planks (elbows & hands on UR), burpee w/ squats, plyo elevator planks, 1 legged burpees, 1 legged pushups, curtsy (1 leg off UR) w/ a balance knee & row,  plyo curtsy & knee up, jack & hi jumps, 1 arm pec fly w/ knee drops, plank moguls, twisting planks, and a stretch.

I used 1# weights for this workout and found it to be a solid/high intermediate that included some more advanced moves as well. Keli is a great lead and provides excellent form pointers throughout. This workout was enjoyable and I cant wait to try it again with the heavier 3# weights next go round. The lower body is worked more than the upper body because of the light poundage- but Keli includes some challenging pushup/ plank, burpee type moves that hit definitely hit the upper body. I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Reivew: Poly Performance Metabolic Plyometric Circuits with Keli Roberts

URX-MT: Poly Performance Metabolic Plyometric Circuits
Keli Roberts, 2011

This is a 52 minute strength (mostly lower body) & plyo workout led by Keli in a nice gym w/ brick walls. Keli works out with 3 backgrounders. You will need a rebounder and a set of 1-3 pound sand weights for this workout- I used 3#'s with this as opposed to the 1#ers I have been using and it REALLY upped the intensity for me!

Keli structures this w/o that you do 1 set of exercises 2 times each. Each set contains a strength move that she then turns into a cardio move and then into a plyo move. Really enjoyed how this was structured as I could feel my muscles being worked in the cardio as well since the cardio exercises were the same base exercise as the previous strength exercise. You use the sand weights for the majority of the workout and will be on and off the UR but in a safe way and the level changes really UP the intensity!

Exercises Include: lunge up and back on the UR, jump onto the UR and step off, around the world stomps, weighted squat series w/ big arms, jump up to the UR-turn around- jump off- turn around-repeat, tuck jumps, squats w/ 1 leg off- then both feet on- then the other leg off, plyo squats across & over the UR, lunge & row- to plyo lunge, repeater, diagonal lunge w/ diagonal arms - diagonal cardio lunge- diagonal plyos, squat w/ a side leg lift & shoulder raise to pendulum, and core work: reverse curl, reverse curl- leg extensions, bridge & single leg bridge, and concludes with a stretch.

I'm going to rate this one advanced- Im not sure if it was just the heavier weights or if this one is just tougher than the rest. I was dripping with sweat right away!!! While Keli adds in plenty of good arm movements I didnt really feel any upper body work (only using 3#'s) but with my body weight, the G-force, and the 3# weights I def felt my lower body being worked. Doing strength work on the UR definitely adds in a balance challenge and really hits your core. Loved the plyo moves- they really got my heartrate got WAY up there and the multi limb strength work kept it up through the entirety! LOVED this one!! Received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: Kick Box Metabolic Interval with Amy Bento

URX-MT: Kick Box Metabolic Interval
Amy Bento, 2011

Amy leads this workout in a brick gym with 4 b/g exercisers. You will need a rebounder and a set of 1-3 pound sand weights (which Amy uses to up the intensity for the vast majority of the w/o). The majority of this workout is done on the rebounder, but some of the exercises require you to move across the UR or have one foot on, one off, etc. This is a 53 min cardio kickboxing workout that ends with a fun corework segment.

This is the 3rd URX-MT w/o I've done and this is the most advanced so far- loved it! The format is a cardio kickboxing segment followed by an intensity burst and you finish with an awesome core section. During the punch combos the b/g'ers arent bouncing too intensely- but you can easily up your bounce factor for a seriously heart pumping workout- I did and I was a sweaty mess by the end. It would be very easy to stay on the UR for the entire workout if you are uncomfortable with those moves or dont have the space (though not a lot of space was required at all).

Cardio Exercises Include: Lots of great punch & kick combos, burpee off the UR- gorilla climb up into a kick combo, hop 1 foot off the UR w/ a hammer puch, single leg hop, jump kicks with punches, mogul jabs, cross country w/ big weighted arm movements, knife punches and tuck jumps, 1 foot off the UR with an elbow strike, and over the top (horizontal) over the UR. After a quick cooldown- you move on the Core Work: kneeling on the UR punching down, rock & roll around the world, standing on the UR- hand walking out to plank & back, and low V hovers.

I like Amy in this one and found her very motivating as a "bootcamp drill sergeant." Done as is (without adding in more intense bouncing during the punch combos) I rate this a high intermediate. Adding in those bounces and its low advanced- I was VERY well worked by the end. I really think the level changes by getting on and off the UR add to the intensity, like a step adds to the intensity of floor cardio. Nothing dangerous or scary about any of the exercises in this. LOVE that Amy uses the sand weights for almost the entire workout- really upped the intensity!

URX-MT Review: Core Metabolic Cardio with Patrick Goudeau Review

URX-MT: Core Metabolic Cardio
Patrick Goudeau, 2011

This is a 52 minute cardio & strength interval rebounding workout led by Patrick. in a nice gym set. Patrick works out with 3 backgrounders. You will need a rebounder and 1-3 lb sand weights for this workout. After a 5 minute warmup you move into the 40 minutes of cardio & (light) strength intervals and finish with a stretch. The workout is structured in blocks of 5 min of cardio followed by 5 (or less) minutes of strength work.

This is the 2nd dvd I have done in the URX-MT set and I have really enjoyed both! They are much higher intensity than the orignials, better leads, and more variety of exercises. The exercises are all straight forward and athletic- easy to follow along to but not boring. Patrick does include some exercises that you get on and off the rebounder- and I felt that the level changes really added to the workout intensity and added a very functional feel. I am super uncoordinated and had no issues getting on and off the rebounder.

Exercises Include: fast in and outs, fast bounce, v steps, knee ups, going from the floor across the UR, lunging onto the UR with a balance knee & hop, running up to the UR- stepping down to the floor, high knees run, clock taps w/ 1 leg on the UR & 1 off, static knee pulls (1 leg off 1 leg on), side lunge off the UR, travel squats over the UR, burpees, and jacks & tuck jumps. With hands on the UR & feet on the floor:, Mt. Climbers, walking planks, plank-arm hop to hi plank, & pikes. Patrick includes "new" UR arm movements that add to the fun factor.

I would rate this a high intermediate cardio workout that includes some light toning. I will use it as a cardio w/o as I do w/ some of the pink Firms. As with all rebounding workouts- you def get out what you put in. I worked up a great sweat and found this workout to be a great intensity! Patrick cracks me up- one of hte b/gers is Tracey from the original UR w/o's (super high energy, all over the place) and he actually made fun of her- which provided me with additional ab work laughing- very funny stuff, love laughing along with the crew during a good w/o! I am super happy with this workout and have high hopes for the rest of the set- so far both Ive reviewed have 5 star ratings from me! I received this dvd to review.

URX-MT Review: Extreme Metabolic Cardio Blast with JB Berns Review

Introducing the first of my Urban Rebounding Extreme Metabolic Training (URX-MT) reviews!!! I am SO excited about this set. It was quite possibly my most wanted set all year!!! I dove right in and did JB's "bonus" cardio dvd. LOVED IT! Click on my URX-MT label above to see all the URX-MT reviews as they get posted!!!  I have been waiting for new UR workouts forEVER and these being "extreme" was the icing on the (fat free) cake!!!  I have a bad knee & sometimes using the UR is the only way I can get an intense cardio workout. Virtually no impact and good for the lymph nodes, your vision, circulation, and of course your heart! Heres a little intro about the URX-MT set.

Urban Rebounding Extreme Metabolic Training is a brand new set of Urban Rebounding dvds released by JB Berns!!!The set includes 13 separate dvds led by seven hot instructors (JB Berns, Patrick Goudeau, Gay Gasper, Amy Bento Ross, Keli Roberts, Greg Sims, & Greg Cook). The dvds utilize the Urban Rebounder (mini trampoline), light 1-3 pound sandweights, and tubing. The set covers it ALL: cardio, strength, core, and power moves- all combined to provide excellent results!

URX MT Extreme Metabolic Cardio Blast
JB Berns, 2011

This is a 52 minute cardio rebounding workout led by JB Berns (the creator of Urban Rebounding). JB leads in a nice gym set with 5 backgrounders. You will need a rebounder and 1-3 lb sand weights for this workout. After a 5 minute warmup you move into the body of the workout (35 minute), do 8-10 sets of sprints, and then finish with 4-5 minutes of ab workout and a stretch.

This is the 1st dvd I have done in the URX MT set. This workout is what I always wished the original UR w/o's would have been: longer and more intense! The exercises are all straight forward and athletic- easy to follow along to but not boring.  All the work, including the core section is done on the rebounder (there is no getting on and off, etc). JB does an excellent job of including tempo changes & varied arm movements to keep things interesting.

Exercises Include: Around the world jumps, straddle, jacks, basic bounce, heel digs, ham curls, twists, lateral knee raises, 180 jumps, jogs, kicks, jabs, cross country, criss cross jacks, knee raises, and moguls. He adds in variety by having you do many of the exercises "around the world" style and by adding in the use of the sand weights for the 2nd half of the workout. He finishes off the cardio with 8-10 sets of sprints and ab work on the UR: sit up & knee crunch, C curve, crunch variations, and V sits.

I would rate this a high intermediate workout- as with all rebounding workouts- you def get out what you put in. I worked up a great sweat and found this workout to be a great intensity! JB's cuing is very good and he offers good pointers. I am super happy with this workout and have high hopes for the rest of the set. I LOVE my rebounder-and am beyond excited about this set. I received this dvd to review.
